I was wondering if anybody could direct me to a really good tutorial for cutscenes or explain to me really good because I have looked into different tutorials and they just seem to confuse me. I am going to make a tutorial for the game I will be making. If any of you know what Diablo is, it is similar to it. There will be a town(no name so far, ideas would be great) and there will be a 9 floor dungeon, 1 for each triforce piece, and 1 for Gannon's final battle. I hope to release a demo soon for Floor 1 and part of the town. Anyways thanks for any help and will put anyone who helps me in the credits. icon_biggrin.gif

But what exactly does losing motivation with ZC have to do with releasing the LI tileset? Just curious. I mean if you release that tileset, it probably will make a lot of people happy since there are people who really want it, plus it might motivate someone else to try and do as good as you and DFW.

But if the creator doesn't want to release it, why should they? It's Peteo and DarkFlameWolf's work, so they should have the final say about it. icon_razz.gif

The tileset took quite a lot of work and was only tailored to Lost Island(and possibly Origins.) Even if it were to be released, I'd not take it because it'd be too specialized. I know that down the line, you'll probably either be using it only to rip from, or not even using it at all.

If you want a powerful tileset, you gotta make it. Use a base like DOR or Pure, or heck, even Newfirst, God knows it needs an update, and just build on top of it.

I'm getting exasperated trying to get the amulet. So it's two screens over and one up from the shop where I should let the hands get me, but which hand--there are 25-30? Seem to always go to the same place...

Sounds like you're stuck in the Xaagan Wastelands with the hands that pop out of the ground and grab you. It doesn't matter which hand grabs you on a current screen, it will always send you to the same location on the corresponding underground cave screen. If memory serves me correctly, what you need to do in order to proceed is to locate the wooden signs in the southern area of the wastelands and find all their clues, then assemble the clues in the correct order to allow you to determine the correct path through the maze hidden in the wastelands.

That will allow you to acquire the Golden Gauntlets (Level Two Bracelet) if I likewise remember correctly, which should allow you to gain access to the Plague Fortress to the north of the wastelands. The underground caverns themselves just contain useful items but I do not think are essential to progress through the wastelands.....

Thanks much, Cap, but I already have the 2nd level glove. Trying now to get the amulet in the wastelands. Earlier in this thread it was said to go 2 screens left of the store and one screen up to get pulled under a second time to get the amulet, but I keep getting pulled to the same place where I can't do anything.

This has got to be one of the most irritating games I have ever played. Not only did it take a week to get to the first level due to lack of bow and arrow, but it took me more weeks to get through the first level (that statue literally took 30 arrows to kill). Now I'm wandering around with nowhere to go but this strange portal in the lava place, and the enemies kill me in three shots and take tons of hits! It's only the second level, and I can barely beat a single enemy. That and the flute and glove are nowhere to be found.

Sure it's got nice graphics, but is the difficulty really worth it? I have no idea where to go and half of the places are blocked by rocks or weird "eye blocks".

What really bugged me about Level 1 is the size. Not only did it take five minutes to get back to where I left off, I die too soon or the Wallmasters get me! Not only that, I keep having to drain the water which results in a boring cutscene. After adding up the number of times I drained the water after being sent back to the entrance, I watched that water draining for about 5 minutes in total!

The enemies are too hard, I have no idea where I'm going, and the levels are too big!

Edit: Okay, maybe that was a little harsh, but I'm in a really bad mood after making no progress for two hours.

some say its worth it, some say its not. Its really up to you. If you are really that frustrated with the game, then don't play it, no one is forcing you to. I personally feel the challenge is just right, I didn't really find it that hard at all. Many others found it moderately challenging as well. So either focus on getting better at your skills, or just drop it. Won't hurt my feelings, you did your best. But I dare say it will be worth it once you beat it, just for accomplishment's sake, but that is ultimately up to you.

It's been so long since I played this that I cannot even remember if there was an amulet in this quest but I'm sure there probably was and I just do not remember how to get to it. As for the screens with the hands that grab you, try this despite the fact that it will be extremely tedious. Go to every single screen that has hands and allow them to grab you, so that you can get a feel for how the underground cave network is set up and try to memorize where the hands drop you underground so that you will know where you need to go. If the hands are using a direct warp setup so that you appear in the same location underground as you were above ground (Again I don't clearly remember, lmao!), then try to memorize the general layout of the room you keep ending up in and try to find the corresponding position above ground.

As for the Whistle Hinsburg, you need to go to the Tahou Woods I believe it is in the north east corner of the island near Bhalstock Castle and look around in there after finding the Giant's Gloves in the lava flows; the gloves themselves are hidden in the flows in a cave beneath the huge Shekiah statue blocking access to Level Two, which is the mysterious portal you're seeing in the area and cannot seem to get to at the moment. You will not need anything in order to get to the glove save a lot of patience if you've already beaten Level One. If you still have the FAQ/Readme from downloading the quest and look at the maximum heart count possible at certain points in the quest, that will help you get an idea of where you should be at and believe me, having the maximum possible health available in this quest is greatly rewarded since enemies are indeed harder hitting earlier on in this quest than what you might be used to from a quest. By Level Two I think you should be at seven hearts and if you're not, you'd do well to get yourself there or you'll likely get massacred in that level.

Though the enemies hit hard and do not fall easily just be patient and don't rush in to attack, and try to use the terrain to your advantage, bottlenecking difficult enemies in places where they cannot attack you from multiple angles or surprise you. Also make liberal use of the bow on more resilient enemies while holding off on weaker ones that are more easily dispatched with the Wooden Sword to conserve ammunition since it isn't easy to come by early on in the quest. Lastly, did I mention patience? If you do not have this, then if you thought Level One was an exercise in frustration, Level Two is going to eat you alive. Another thing that can help when you get stuck or frustrated with something is to take a break every once in a while. Often this will help calm you down and it's usually easier to think and often results in a line of thought that will solve the problem you are having trouble with at the moment.....

Whoa, that actually helped a lot. I managed to find the gloves and then the ocarina in about twenty minutes. I also found a "triforce dungeon" and tried to get through that tomb in the graveyard, but I needed a second triforce piece. I looked for awhile but couldn't find one, so I just went on to level 2.

Level 2 looks big. I managed to get to the dark side, but I kept dying, so I stopped playing.

HAY! When I had a dumb reason not to continue playing Lost Isle you weren't NEARLY as unbiased as you're being with Schoochie.

The tomb in the graveyard requires you to have all six Triforce shards to gain entry, and honestly, I wouldn't even contemplate trying to tackle the Catacombs until you have minimum at least seventy five percent of your maximum life energy available as well as the Level Two Sword, a Boomerang, the Blue Mail, and a Full Potion once you do have the Triforce assembled. Having the Red Mail would make your life significantly easier in that place, but you can't even acquire it until almost the end of the quest so it might not even be worth the wait versus the usefulness trade off of the item found in the Catacombs. As for Level Two, try to get yourself there with a Magic Shield and all seven of the hearts you can acquire at that point, and at least try to get yourself the Wand out of that level. If you can acquire the Wand, that will open the way to acquiring the Candle, Boomerang, the Level Two Sword, and possibly the Blue Mail, all of which will make completing the dungeons much easier on you. Like I said before, when you get irritated with the quest's fairly high difficulty level toward casual gamers, just take a break and try it again later. This way you won't get so frustrated and burned out that you just give up and quit.....

Incidentally, I don't know if either of you saw my question in the Custom Quest Discussion or have been too busy to answer it which I'd understand what with having that pesky thing called life to manage, but if you'd be willing to give me some insight as to how you accomplished the opening prologue sequence DFW or Peteo, I'd greatly appreciate it. The speculation that I've gotten in response to my earlier post has been helpful in strengthening my suspicions of how it's done, but I'd like to hear from the horse's mouth so I can try to accomplish something similiar for a quest I'd like to try to start building at some point.....

Hinsburg, I had put this game down twice before out of frustration, but now I'm well on the way to finishing it thanks to all of the help available in this thread. It's well worth it to take the time to read all of it, because it's a great game.
