The most difficult part of Megaman 3 are the Doc Robot stages between the robot master stages and the Wily stages. Not so much the stages themselves (though they certainly do have their moments) but the fights that take place within. Good luck on those. The rest of the game is pretty fairly balanced though. Oh, and if you game over on the Wily stages, be patient and make sure to select "Continue" and not spam your way into hitting "stage select." Or you're gonna have a bad time.

Yes, Quick Man rematch, I'm looking in your direction.

Then there's the Yellow Devil rematch later on.

I've personally never had any problems with the Yellow Devil. (Then again, I cheated with the Game Genie, but in my defense, I was young and that tool was a hit back then :P)

Dark Moon from Mega Man V (GB) also behaves in a manner similar to Yellow Devil, but he was a cinch to me. :sly:

I'll keep note of that.

Well, I beat Megaman 7 last night. Most of the game wasn't bad, but nothing special. Just kinda par for the course, really. But then we get to the Wily Capsule. I'm sure it's been said a million times already, but what were they thinking!? Seriously, the thought that some developer actually looked at that fight and said "Yup, this is fine," baffles me. Nearly impossible to dodge projectiles, combined with being chain hit, combined with an insane amount of HP... Capcom, what?

True story: I have never beaten the Wily Capsule without save states. And I have no plan to change that. Because screw you Capcom.

Mega Man 7 was more of a love-hate game for me. It was a HUGE departure of many things that I loved in the NES series; for example, Beat no longer works the way he did in MM5/MM6, which is a major bummer, and would've been useful in the Wily Capsule fight. Also, why does Mega Man stick his Mega Buster out while he's charging it? He never does that in the other games... dork.gif

I played it again last night as well, only the 8-bit demake of it instead. I got to the Wily stages, but it was late and I was having trouble with the first stage, so I took a snapshot of the password and stopped. It... was actually quite fun. Putting the graphics, physics, and music into a style identical to the other NES titles was a marked improvement, really enhanced the atmosphere and the enjoyment of it. I dunno, something about the SNES style just didn't appeal to me, especially the musical style. It didn't really have the same charm as the NES games. This demake? Restores that beautifully, although so far it does retain many (if not all) instances of shoddy design from the original, and is still aggravating at times. Also, the soundtrack actually sounds quite amazing, and far less forgettable this time around; I regret saying 7 didn't have a very good soundtrack, but again, it was probably due to the musical style used on the SNES.

I'll try to finish it tonight. I hear the Wily Capsule is actually slightly easier on this version, but that's yet to be seen...

Recently just began MM3 and it sure is a lot more difficult than 2. I got wrecked with Snake Man and Needle Man. On the upside, there is quite a bit of improvement over 2 and I seem to be really enjoying this so far.

I only got half of the Robot Masters down at the moment, so I'm looking forward to seeing what the other stages will hold for me...

Finished the 8-bit verison of Megaman 7. Overall, I had a hell of a better time with it than I did the SNES version, even though functionally they're about exactly the same in most ways. The 8-bit style just really adds to the immersion and enjoyment, though it didn't make up for some frustrating design that was still present in the original version. Also I believe the dreaded Wily Capsule is supposedly easier in some ways, not entirely sure, but it felt that way. Still a hell of an intense fight, definitely enough to feel accomplished over once you beat it. Highlighted the fight too because I just felt good about it.

The big thing that made it easier was the smaller hitbox and more room to move around in/dodge as a result.  Again, my biggest gripe with MM7 is how clunky and cramped it feels, especially during boss fights.  The 8-bit version feels so open in comparison.

Since Moosh was wondering if it was possible, here's a flawless run of Pharaoh Man's entire stage in Rockman 4 Minus Infinity.

I don't know this version of Pharaoh Man, but in the original game I find him near impossible to beat if you only have the mega buster and no energy tanks. He is really, really difficult. Until you find his weakness, then he's a pushover.

So Moosh and I played Rockman 4 Minus Infinity last night. Rom hack or not, it's the best Megaman game, by a longshot. It does stuff I didn't even dream was possible on and NES, and unlike that Zelda romhack, which was technically impressive but not very fun, Minus Infinity's a blast (aside from Dust Man, he can go die in a whole). Nearly everything about the game, especially it's final level (well, penultimate level I guess) is incredible, and everybody here oughta go try it. It is insanely hard though, but thankfully it has a difficulty customization option. And 1/2 damage and extra weapon drops was still hard enoigh for me.

Pfff... Minus infinity is a big lol... Has cool features, yeah. But the overall design, difficulty and music is embarrasing. It does not use Megaman music either... For me it is one of the perfect examples in how not to do a fangame...

I can see why you don't like the music, but what about the design don't you like? I thought it was, for the most part, really well designed.
