Problem...it's a Jpg, and the pixels look all messy; save it as a PNG next time. I can sort of make out the details though, not bad for a first try. I recommend trying to give the shield a more top down perspective to it. Unless those are just the menu icons, in which case its fine.

Okay, I'll do that next time. And thanks, those are actually the item icons ![]()

Looks impressive for your first sprite. My suggestion, is keep on at it with spriting. You'll eventually make stuff a lot faster and easier with more quality too. Even if you have to start in tilesets that are irrelevant to your current projects. Just keep practicing until you are absolute confident.

Thanks man! That means a lot
I'll try to read some tutorials, because I need and want to learn to sprite, being honest, I find some inspiration in your creations, especially Soulgazer. How did you learn to sprite Shane may I ask?

Well, funny thing is, I had gone through multiple methods of how I made several of my sprites. The giant temple I made a while back was out of sheer imagination, using previous resources I had made. So don't be afraid to work on previous sprites that you thought weren't good enough, and keep them from being deleted. Other sprites like the dead tree and Charizard sprites were made due to the help of other existing sprites (I can't nail perspective right most of the time on my own), using them as references while making my own from hand. Don't be afraid to use other work as references when making your own things (so long as credit is given; it's not necessary but always the most respectful thing to do), you can learn in the process.
The funny thing is, I didn't start with EZGBZ when it came to drawing custom sprites, but using EZGBZ helped me improve a lot.

So in a few words, like always, with a lot of practicing and a bit of effort and confidence, with time I can keep improving bit by bit on my sprites? And of course, credit is always appreciated, especially when big things like tilesets or such are not appreciated by those who use them. Thanks for the tips man, I hope when school is finished, I'll have time to practice ![]()

Well, I hope you do end up considering it; it's rather fun to learn. And who knows? Maybe you might even make custom tile expansions for your DoR Hybrid tileset and Hylian Legacy.
The only way to learn to sprite is by trying, right? Once you start and get the hang of it, you'll never want to turn back. Even if you sprite on rare occasions.

Something about these just feels really shitty to me. Can't quite place a finger on it.

I wouldn't quite say they're terrible, we haven't even been given slash and other important sprites yet =p
I think they look fine, its just the colors aren't quite meshing together. I think the browns mix too much together with each other, which might be causing a differentiating issue in telling where his hair begins and the shield's brown begins, if that makes sense

I like them, though the Green, Red and Purple palettes seem a little too, hmmmm, "mixed" that I can't difference enough the shades, maybe that's what's bugging you. Also, you could try to add a little more detail to the front in Link's cap due to that yellow square, it doesn't look like it's the yellow part of the hat, it looks... odd. But alas, you keep impressing us with your sprite work, very nice job ![]()

I'll try to make a sprite daily, even if it's something simple
