Well haven't been able watch Attack on titan right now, but I've gone to my back log and started watching "Cromartie high school"

...

Damn this show is strange in a funny way. xD

Finished getting current on Kyoukai no Kanata and Miss Monochrome. Both just took very, VERY interesting turns, though Miss Monochrome was more surprising since I wasn't expecting any serious plot reveal from a slice-of-life comedy about a vocaloid. Now I'm working on getting current on Noukome (My Mental Choices are Completely Interfering with my School Romantic Comedy), which is absolutely crazy.

Simultaneously trying to kick through Revolutionary Girl Utena, which is pretty good. It was made by a small, low-budget studio so they had to reuse a lot of footage but you can tell they really knew what they were doing and wanted to make something crazy awesome.

Went back to watching Steins;Gate. It's one of those animes where you have to watch more than once to fully understand the plot.

Well I just current on the most series I've ever watched in a single season. Kyoukai no Kanata, Noukome, Galilei Donna, and Miss Monochrome. Still gotta get current on Kyousougiga, Meganebu, Outbreak Company, Non Non Biyori, Arpeggio of Blue Steel, Kill la Kill, Pokemon XY, Strike the Blood, and Log Horizon. But in the current season I can get current on a series in a day and a half roughly, including all other obligations. So if I prioritize right I should be able to watch all the finales current.

Almost through the middle arc of Utena. Man, this anime is getting fucked up in all the most awesome ways.

Out of all of those, I'm only watching Kyokai no Kanata and Kill la Kill.

THATS IT.

Fall season tends to have tons of good shows though, so I don't blame ya.

I got current on Kyousougiga, and I do not hesitate to call it the single most rewarding anime this season. It's artful, it's whimsical, it's simple but complex, intricate yet natural. It feels like a true parallel to reality, and does not fail to astound with each passing episode. Parts of it are somewhat juvenile and yet that only serves to improve the series due to the contrast of the apparent expectation that viewer is fairly astute.

Finished Angel Beats. Tried my hardest not to get choked up, due to my stubbornness, and inborn disdain for the crowd that's like "OMG ANGEL BEATS IS SO SAD I CRY ERYTEIM" Though they're not exaggerating as badly as the Clannad fandom *vomits in mouth a little*.

It was a halfway-decent series. Not good. Decent. It could have used a lot more subtlety. A LOT more.

This will not get out of my head.

O.o

I watched it in Japanese, so I don't remember what this scene was in the original version, but it doesn't ring a bell at all. That's... interesting.

So how bad is the fandom? The person who got me to watch Clannad had only recently seen it herself and ironically I'd accidentally helped her discover it, so maybe I haven't had the run-in with people you're describing. I thought it was a pretty good show though, minus the whole inexplicable deus ex machina "Well shit, this got even more depressing, so let's force a happy ending out of our asses" side story. And I didn't think After Story was paced as well as the first season, it seemed to go all over and skip inexplicable lengths of time. I don't watch a lot of anime like that though (Kanon is the only other one), I only watched it cuz my friend really wanted me to. :heh:

It's not that the fandom is bad, it's just that they give it WAY more credit than it deserves in the "so sad!!!!!11!one!!1!" department. The whole thing felt so forced from start to finish. Not to mention whoever thought it was a good idea to draw faces that way should lose their job. Totally killed the mood.

I hated Clannad with a passion, so the fandom annoys me a bit.

Also, for someone who "doesn't watch a lot of anime" you do seem to get around. You have enough content now to start a page on MAL.

I meant anime like Clannad. :P

I don't even know what MAL is though.

MAL stands for MyAnimeList. There's a bit of a learning curve to it, but it's really nice for tracking what you've watched once you get the hang of it. If not for MAL, I'd never have known that I passed my 1000th episode of anime watched a week ago.

There's another such service called AniChart that's a bit more user-friendly, but it's not nearly as useful. Not even close.

I don't like subbed anime. You can now disqualify me from being a weeaboo. This is probably one of the best dubbed anime I've seen minus J Michael Tatum's Okabe voice.
