It's a decent screen ! Small lack in detail variety, the trees and mountains look good to me, but the bottom left of the mountains there's an error.

The shape of the screen isn't too bad.

There's an error with the mountains on the left, but for the most part they look okay.

In my opinion, no. The colors (Blue and red?) look really awful, and I'm not really getting the design of the screen. What exactly is it? A dead end? So it would seem. Maybe I'm not getting something, but the the dead end doesn't make much sense to me.

One more thing: You could use a few detail tiles here and there. They come in handy when trying to fill up a screen.

Well, I kind of like it. Everything's shaded rather well, giving a pretty good night-time feel to it. I'm going to guess that you have something planned here, whether it's a bombable portion of the cliff wall (if it is, it needs a visual cue to show it can be blown up), or the setup to a massive secret such as a dungeon forming out of the mountainside or something. If that's what it is, then I really REALLY like this screen. You have enough space to build something major in the open area, and you have the environment looking natural and spaced out enough as it is that the player probably wouldn't expect something to happen here.

The tree colors don't bother me too much. I mean, I've seen a lot of well-liked quests with odd colored trees, and having them in somewhat muted colors helps a bit. The only major issue I have with the screen would be if it actually was just a dead end, because that would give the player an irritated "This was a major waste of time" feeling.

its both the beginning of the game and something major later on. all i would have to say to that is it would be "Spoilers"

as to what the major part of the quest is.. I'm not telling. OK i will fix it up a bit.

ok how is it now?

Bottom left corner is open, I'd recommend you close it off. And also, don't stick with the same details. Other then that it's good.

They are talking about the very bottom left corner combo on that screen. I really don't get why people complain all the time when corners are open, but meh, they want you to fill in that corner.

Considering how everything on this map is diagonal, and it really doesn't seem to be in the way (having to travel through here on a regular basis, does it really matter that much whether the corner is open or not? You're only going to see this place once or twice before you know it's here and whether you need to come back, and the size of the opening seems like you'd only come here if you specifically planned to. You're not going to suddenly have a terrible experience at the game just because a 2-tile-wide open corner was put in a single area for aesthetics now, are you?

Regardless if it's an area that will be barely explored the corner should be closed so that you balances out exploration by actually going into the screen rather then coming in from the south, walk on the south edge of the screen and go to the screen on the left. Also, staying on the edge makes you invincible so you should close of the corner so you can't cheat by accessing the left screen by walking on the south edge unharmed if you get what I'm saying.

2.5, Quest -> Rules -> NES Fixes, Tab 1, enable "No invisible border on non-dungeon dmaps". This invincibility is no longer a problem, as mobs and projectiles go all the way to the edge of the screen. Fixed, so I still fail to see why people whine about it.
