WHAT. I didn't realize until now that hurricanes can hit the UK!

Good for you that you're unaffected, but I feel bad for the others... :(

EDIT: I looked it up, and you are correct; it is Gonzalo.

Yeah, hurricanes can hit the UK, though I believe it's a rare occurance because throughout my entire life, I've never seen anything major happen to the UK like this, at least I don't think so lol.

The storm is not in hurricane status; it was just strong enough to contain a lot of the strength in its current storm status. Think of it more as really strong storm or remnants of the hurricane.

And I'm pretty sure that London was still affected by the storm. Most of Central Europe and the UK will be effected by 50 mph (80 kph) and lots of rain. I do hope that everyone in Europe is fine, though.

Yeah, I forgot to mention it's no longer a hurricane but I guess a "tropical storm", or like you said a hurricane remnant.

And yeah, London's actually affected, though the winds aren't too bad. However, one woman did die in Knightsbridge (Central London) because a tree fell on her from the wind, pretty sad indeed. Meanwhile, current wind speeds over here in London is somewhere from 25-37mph.

I got a new Mac. It has one of those Fusion Drives that combines an SSD and a rotational hard drive.

Is fast. I like.

The SSD/HDD combo concept isn't new. Western Digital's Black² dual drive also combines a SSD and HDD in one. From what I have heard though, it doesn't beat the sheer performance of a SSD.

I got a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD for Christmas last year and I've had no regrets...

I've had a PC with a Samsung 840 EVO in it for about a year now. A 500GB version, along with a separate 7200rpm mechanical disk, 1TB. But that was my gaming rig. My actual work machine now has an SSD for app launches and the OS, which is fantastic, not to mention twice the RAM of the old machine, which by the way had only a 500GB 5400rpm disk.

So yeah. I'm excited.

Also, it's not a hybrid drive, it's a 128GB PCIe SSD and a 1TB SATAIII disk. Things that are actively being used are put on the SSD, and less-accessed things get "archived" on the mechanical drive. It's all transparent. Functionally I should notice almost no difference in I/O performance because anything I am actively using is on the fast media. Rarely I'll find something loads more slowly. That's about it.

If I had a dollar for every time I didn't pay attention to which layer I was using in ZQuest and ended up making an entire screen on layer 1, I probably wouldn't need to get a job.

I guess I wouldn't need a job either :P

Sometimes I end up making an entire screen on Layer 4 and when I go and test, I end up going underneath everything and go "WTF?". Then I realise I used the wrong layer the whole time and start raging.

After three months of hard, hard work, the play is finally over. We went to one Act competition and had a great time. Everyone was super nice and played improv games and talked and watched plays. I really bonded with the rest of the cast and I'll miss spending so much time with them.

This is something I've been wondering for a while; how many posts can this thread potentially have before no more can be added?

I'm expecting a LOT.

I believe there was another thread somewhere with 400+ pages...

Late response to Grant, but if I had a dollar for every time I got upset over a small mistake while working on a quest or doing anything, I could pay off my student loan debt in full, buy a new car AND probably a house all with cash.

Anyway, hella long hours this week at work. Pretty much, my schedule is the exact same as last week, only that I work Saturday instead of being off. Hours like these are rare where I work; some associates get fewer than 15 hours a week, and the only people that get full time hours are the managers.

  • Sunday- 12:00PM to 8:00PM
  • Monday- 12:00PM to 8:00PM
  • Tuesday- 8:00AM to 4:00PM
  • Wednesday- 4:00PM to 8:00PM
  • Thursday- OFF
  • Friday- OFF
  • Saturday- 8:00AM to 4:00PM

All I can say is that I'm happy we have mandatory half hour breaks for 6+ hours shifts at Weis Markets. There is no way in hell I'm going to stand on my feet for 8 hours straight pulling carts. One thing that is pretty strange is they don't seem to care WHEN I take my break, yet I noticed the cashiers can only take their break when our front end manager or our store process coordinator say they're allowed to. Not sure why that is. All I can think is that you pretty much need 3-4 cashiers and one person at the self checkout lanes at at all times. Otherwise, customers get pretty pissed off because they want to get home. We don't want to pull a page from Wal-Mart and make customers wait half an hour just to get through line.

Yeah, I won't turn down a break. That's where my mother irks myself and especially my father. She'll work all day at the hotel and refuse to take a lunch break, even knowing she's not paid for that half hour. Then she comes home and complains about being hungry, enraging my father and before you know it, my father's throwing a barrage of Cluster F-Bombs and I'm stuck in the middle of it and him arguing with my mother. Takes a lot of nerve though to complain about ME skipping meals, but she can do it just fine? Skipping both breakfast AND lunch? It's a wonder she isn't sick! You can't be healthy on just one meal a day.

I think because 5 people showing is the maximum, and you're the youngest. Anyways, Happy Birthday!  :D
