Regardless of how predictable an episode can be, it doesn't mean I can't enjoy it. I mean, if the episode has me laugh at least once, or in the case of certain episodes, creeped out (Twilight Sparkle's faces in season 2, episode 3 for example), then it's done its job. What can I say, I'm a simple man with simple tastes.

And whether or not the show is good is ultimately up to the person watching it. While it might not be the most intelligent humor either, it's definitely a clever show when it wants to be, and I'll appreciate that. Then again, show me something on TV that's actually intelligent and still good.

Agreed through-out.

In fact, I would go so far to say (If it's even a stretch at all. O.o ) that certain shows accomplish different things. Batman Beyond is very serious. Azumanga Daioh is a lighthearted comedy with a specific kind of humor. What I would like to know is just why MLP is so popular that it spawns legions of Bronies and youtube videos. It's the humor that clinches it for me, in addition to specific, non-vague characterization, unique gimmicks, and the presence of attainable moral lessons for those lacking and looking, such as myself.

I may not be laughing 100% of the time, but I haven't found many jokes that were in poor taste at all. Quite the contrary. When there was a joke that seemed like it might be awkward, such as the Pinkie Pie insanity Party with the rocks, it didn't go as such a scene normally would. Her quirked expressions were timed perfectly in between a generally sincere act. Unless my standards are just incredibly low, (And those of every other Brony... ? ) I thought the humor is fantastic. Fluttershy's squee is still my favorite sound, in addition to anything she says at all. (Andrea Libman is a fantastic voice actor.)

Don't care about the plot. Each episode is self-contained, which leaves room for other episodes to shine. If you already believe you know what will happen, then just sit back and enjoy the ride without having to worry that your hopes were rainbow dashed against the sidewalk.

I feel I should take this opportunity to say that Season 2 Episode 3 - "Lesson Zero" is an excellent example of an insanely predictable episode that is also absurdly amazing. Watch that episode, Russ, and I DARE you to tell me that predictability is a death sentence.

Ok, today I have watched the first episode, because I was interested in how good this series is. Somehow, I enjoyed it and the pink pony was really funny, just like everyone else. And fluttershy was hilarious! until she saw the dino. the german voice actors were bad, so I watched it in english

but there are better TV shows than this.

Oh, no doubt - but none of those shows come from having to redeem a franchise with as notorious a reputation as this one. And the sad thing is, MLP doesn't deserve the awful reputation it's gotten.

Fact: 99% of what people think they know about the old MLP shows comes from Strawberry Shortcake. :/

I get the odd feeling he'll be back icon_wink.gif by the sound of things, he was a militant brony before, doing crazy stuff for this show that is genuinely not healthy, and now that he's calmed down he thinks the show holds no interest for him. I could be wrong, but I'm placing bets right now that he'll tune in to the new episode this saturday just for the hell of it. icon_smile.gif It's also highly likely that he just needs to take a break from it for a little bit.

Obligatory "Batman Beyond had nothing, and I mean NOTHING on Batman: The Animated Series" post.

My guess is that Ventus is in the depression phase. Or perhaps he never went through grieving in the first place, so he's at denial.

I think I'm in the bargaining phase... I'm not sure. I'm still keeping it a secret IRL. So I guess that puts me at denial IRL.

Ditto. I walk around all nonchalant, but deep inside, I am this close to bursting out into fits of this.

*this* close.

I'm not going to walk around all ponied out, or use pony terms, but I didn't do that for Recess or the Jackie Chan Adventures, both of which I had a certain warm fondness for, no matter how old they are, or I get. If something just clicks, it'll click nicely for a long time.

I digress that this thread has gone insane. icon_eek.gif Later ponies hello um what is the topic? Oh I see Ventus left and said it's just a fad. Well later. icon_neutral.gif

Just so you know Robin, the show isn't required for girls at least it didn't say that, so there I guess.
I never said it was.

For me, the denial phase only lasted a few hours. A friend recommended it to me, I couldn't believe I was about to try something this weird (denial stage), I got home from school, downloaded the first episode, put it on my PSP, went out to dinner at a Chinese buffet and had five helpings of Singapore Noodles, then went home and watched the first episode eight times. The next morning I went to school and started shouting at the friend who told me to watch it (Anger phase) for what he'd done to me.

Then the bartering phase was kind of schloopy-loopy for me because I was too busy telling everyone HE that watched the show to care if people found out I was watching it. I think I'm still to this day going through the depression phase, but it's not hitting me as hard as it hits most people.

It's still a bit difficult to talk to my parents about my enjoyment of the show. Or at least, to start the conversation. If one of them starts it, all is well.

Okay, I've seen this come up quite a bit here and I have to ask: what does it matter what your parents think, and why do they have to know in the first place?

It's just a show. I watch plenty of shows, but I don't tell my mother about every single one of them. Not because I wouldn't want her to know (I honestly couldn't care less), but because there's literally no reason for me to tell her. You guys are making this seem like a big deal, as if it's the same as telling your parents you're homosexual or something along those lines. I can understand being afraid of what they might think of you if you were gay, seeing as many people are still too close-minded when it comes to that, but this is just a cartoon! What are they gonna do, kick you out of the house for watching a show that bases itself around ponies? I highly doubt it icon_shrug.gif

Basically; I think you're all making a way bigger deal out of this than it has to be. Why make it so hard on yourself when there's literally no point in doing so? Seems like it'd be a lot easier to just relax and enjoy whatever you want to enjoy.

Well to be COMPLETELY fair, quite a few parents will hear that their kids watch this show and assume it means they're gay. :/

and also, I never told my parents, they found out.

That'd be some pretty damn ignorant parents. Are all parents like that in America? Because that's not normal behavior in Norway, or pretty much any other part of the world as far as I'm aware icon_shrug.gif

You don't have to tell me it's ignorant, I know it. But the really crappy thing is, even if your parents don't think like that, you're taught from a very young age to expect them to. Not to mention, in elementary school all guys get the girliness beaten out of them. Elementary school students will break your spirit and make you a mindless meat head before you're old enough to realize that THEY'RE the ignorant ones.

For such a self-proclaimed smorgasbord, America is really a rough place to be different. Although I have been told that it's even worse in Mexico.
