I like the screens, except for the browns on the tops of the trees.

It bothers me as well, but I can't do anything about it. I could use 8-bit colors, but I'm far to lazy to do that icon_razz.gif
JK, maybe I'll do something about it.

Oooh very nice. This map is beautifully unified and flows like a true GB region. I have no complaints.

Thanks Furion! icon_biggrin.gif

Wow, this is glorious! icon_love.gif I have no complaints either.

I do have one point that's not a complaint, though. Have you tried using a little more colorfulness? The map is extremely green, and that's not bad, but I wonder if it would look nicer with a more lively color selection, such as red/pink/blue flowers here and there, or even the oddly placed grey rock in some corner (not pushable, just decoration)...

Thanks Schwa! And I will add some more color, there's going to be a small pond in one of the next screens.

FefeRawft, that map is exceptional! It flows like an actual Gameboy Zelda game would, but set up to be more pleasing to the eyes. Great work!

Thanks HollowKnight! icon_biggrin.gif

Overall, I think this came out pretty nice considering I haven't seriously worked in ZC in a couple of months. I plan on finishing that map either today or tomorrow.

You could use 8bit. Nice map anyways, though the tall grass looks off (the colours I mean).

Subscreen I recently finished.
Everything is final except the map, which is just a placeholder for custom maps for each area. The treasures are handled using the extra counters, custom items, and string control codes.

Love it, absolutely love it! icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks Yoshimi.

And yeah, now that you point it out, the tall grass doesn't really match the color of the surrounding grass.
I'll have to mess with it later.

Keiichi, be careful with 8-Bit. If you're going to make a quest with this, all of your trees will be the same color no matter what palette you try to use. I'd recommend going into the actual palette and making the brown white. It shouldn't mess up anything, unless the same brown is used on the mountains, but it's difficult to tell just looking at it. Just a suggestion. icon_shrug.gif It looks nice, though!

Digging the subscreen, FefeRawft. icon_smile.gif

This is very not true. You simply won't be able to switch CSets on the 8bit tiles anymore but other palettes will show the tiles in the respective (other) palette.

Whoa, perspective clash up on the top left corner of the map with the mountains. Same thing with the bottom right. You use GB-perspective and mixed it with aLTTP perspective mountains, and it just makes no sense.

Well, do YOU think mountains are perfect all the time? No way! It's nature. they're supposed to be different. Plus, it was the only way I could fit them in.

Well, he has a point because perspective is perfect all the time in nature.

Unfortunately this is not a good argument. Perspective is a constant unless something is bending or distorting your vision. While mountains are natural and do change, generally its very unlikely for them to change in Escher-esque ways.

Try to stay open to criticism. While you have gotten good with ZC, everyone can still improve. However, ZC is a hobby and if your not up for criticism, don't post your shots in the critique thread!

That's not a good argument at all.

^This. I was about to post, but then I realized HollowKnight said exactly what I was going to say.

Anyway, for the first time, I've decided to work with some tilesets that aren't Classic, BS or EZGBZ. I'll probably have some shots posted in here sometime today with either Penguin and Pie or Chain of Destiny. icon_smile.gif

I always thought the difference between GB and LttP mountains was shape rather than perspective, the former being vertical and the latter sloped. Does seem a bit odd when screen-facing tiles of both are identical, though.

Agreed as well.

Very beautiful map, but constantly switching between GB style and ALTTP style does conflict with the screens main perspective.
And I do agree that in nature mountains, (and other various things) do form in all kinds of crazy ways, but in no way do mountains look like that in nature.

Alright, let's commence the "pick on Jared" session icon_lol.gif

No. icon_frown.gif

Jared why not try to fix these things up (big task, I know) and use the GB mountains for hill areas? i.e Death Mountain.
