While I understand that it is possible to become uninterested in something, I really don't get why Ventus thinks he's not a fan of the show anymore just because he hasn't watched an epiosde in a week. Hell, not even, it had only been six days when he posted. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to move on.

Gargoyles is the new My Little Pony.

...Someone please tell me I'm not the only one who finds this slightly disturbing.

Nope, I find it slightly disturbing as well.

I also found it slightly disturbing, but that's why I posted it. icon_heh.gif I like to push against my comfort zones to expand them, little by little. (2g1c doesn't affect me much anymore, for example.)

I haven't watched Batman Beyond, the Jackie Chan Adventure show, and Recess in over a week, or a year, or a decade, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the show anymore, despite having seen every episode and being enthusiastic about them to some degree.

If you mean that you're free of an addiction, Ventus, that's all fine and good, but that doesn't mean that you loathe the show, which is how you're acting. It feels somewhat disrespectful (Even toward a non-living entity, as it is.) toward something that was previously highly enjoyed.

When the next episode is live, after your previous post, some tact would be very useful, I'm sure.

I'm actually not even sort of bothered by the gargoyles picture. Everyone I talk to says this one is infinitely creepier:

Okay Let me say This again the right way...
...
...
after realizing what i said last night...Let me say I do not hate the show
To me this show was just a fad...and i always get caught up in really fun fads

And What I'm saying is That The show no longer interest's me no more
Its Like the new thunder cats I watched that like crazy Then after a long time The fandom died
And I drifted away from it
so this is happening now with MLP:FIM..Its Time for me to move on To the next Great Fad
Who knows When that might happen, But this show was a greatest fad i've ever had
but i'm over it now So My addiction is now over
I didn't mean to offend Anyone last night I really was not thinking about what i typed..

Okay and I'm sorry But goodbye fellow bronys

~Ventus

This is the way i should've said it last night....

*standing ovation*

Okay...now let's pretend yesterday never happened!

EDIT: Also, with the ThunderCats thing...the same thing happened to me, but I'd always attributed it to the fact that the 2011 ThunderCats series just isn't capable of holding a person's interest. I mean, it's pretty dull

So is, uh, My Little Pony, but I digress. It is all opinion. Which is why I find it incredibly ridiculous and immature that both of you went on like that.

Nice troll. BTW, the opinions themselves have nothing to do with it. Tact was what I was looking for.

Here, let me throw some examples around. For the sake of an impartial hypothetical I'm going to use Justin Beiber as the subject matter.

QUOTE
Justin Beiber is the worst singer on the face of the planet, oh but you fans can feel free to keep listening to his crappy music.
versus
QUOTE
I dislike Justin Beiber's music.

Clearly the former is much more offensive than the latter. Generally, a reasonable person would attach the adjective to themselves rather than to that which they have the opinion on. Saying "this sucks" or "this is annoying" implies that it's the subject matter's fault for not directly pandering to the tastes of the person speaking, which is completely out of line for the speaker to say.

And yes, I acknowledge that by this logic, my previous post was out of line.

Wait, how the hell can you digress in the first sentence of your post, that makes no sense. To digress is to stray from the point, you hadn't even made your point yet.

Yes, I did have to point this out. It annoys me when people use a word incorrectly. icon_deformed.gif (Unless they're using irony/ironically incorrectly, which is quite ironic if you ask me.)

Bro, start showing some tact yourself and maybe you'll receive some in return.

As for MLP, I still don't enjoy it. I tried watching an episode [#8] a few days ago and couldn't last more than five minutes before leaving the room. It seems like a pretty average show to me. I don't see what's so spectacular about these ponies, honestly. The characters aren't even clever or new to TV. icon_shrug.gif

I did very much acknowledge that I was in need of some tact as well.

Oooh, I love this one. Well, see it started out with a fanbase that was just partial to the show. Just a bunch of people who began watching it and said "hey, this isn't nearly as bad as we were expecting". Nobody was too particularly crazy about it until an article from cartoon brew came along. The article baselessly criticized the show for being corporation-driven and marked it as the "End of the creator-driven era". Well, the fans didn't take kindly to this jab at Lauren Faust (especially since the article was in dire need of some proper research), so the fandom became more or less a middle finger towards all the people who would judge the show without bothering to look into it and see what it's all about.

So yeah. It's not a spectacular show, but it represents something, and that's why most of the fans are here.

What does it represent?

Because all I see is one side of fanboys criticizing an article for not having proper research, yet fans themselves don't seem to be able to actually put the finger on it themselves, and back up their claims with 'It's a good show because we said so', even though the show is very much aimed at young females. I don't care if you still like it regardless, but what bothers me is how everyone is running around and saying that it's so groundbreaking when it's obviously not.

It's painfully obvious to me that this whole fad (and it is a fad) started with somebody on a forum somewhere decided that he liked it, and then everyone else threw themselves onto it for the sake of being along for the ride. I'm sure some of you do actually genuinely like the show though, but I am questioning why you like it so much... and I mean no offense by this; but none of you are able to give me an answer that I can trust, because fanboys icon_razz.gif Anyway, this got longer than what I intended, so please focus on my first question... everything else here in this post is just me rambling for the sake of rambling icon_shrug.gif

This is also a baseless claim. Nobody says "it's a good show because we say so". Everyone likes it for a different reason. Some people like it because it's a very malleable base substance for fan fiction. Some people like the comedy. Some people like it because around every turn you can find another fan who will be willing to discuss it with you. The list goes on; there is certainly no shortage of reasons for someone to like it.

And also, you asked what it represents? You'll find your answer in bold in the above quote. It represents being open-minded enough to disregard everything you've been brought up to believe about this rather notorious franchise, or for that matter anything notorious, and look at it from the perspective of someone who desperately wants a reason not to loathe it.

Also, your claim about it's popularity doesn't really hold up, since most of the people I know who watch this show don't go online at all.
