Star Shield is your friend... Strategy is all in a well designed Megaman. If you can beat a stage with only the megabuster without any problem, then you are probably facing a poor Megaman game (6 the main culprit). Not the case in that stage. Just use the Star Shield... and it's a breeze.

In my opinion, though, that goes against a good design philosophy of "every stage should be accessible regardless of which weapons you have," which is one of the issues I had with Megaman 2. I think that the player should have an equal chance of succeeding in each stage whether they only have the buster or the entire loadout up to that point.

When it comes to fortress stages, though, that's a different story, I love when they throw you into multiple situations where you need to select the best item of choice to get through unscathed, or else you risk taking lots of damage.

Beat all the Robot Masters in MM2 and I'm now ready to tackle the Wily Stages.

But before I do, I learnt what happens when you do Quickman before Flashman... HELL HAPPENS. I literally spent a lot of time getting through that long dropping segment, and boy I HATED that. If only I got the Time Stopper earlier...

I'm holding off on my challenge run of Mega Man 2 for many reasons, Quick, Air, Heat, Wood, Boobeam and other reasons.

i understand Quick,Heat and,Boobeam..and the fact that you need the item 2 from Airman for not lose many lives in Heatman stage, but why Wood ?

So I just beat Mega Man 2 and I gotta say, that was actually really fun! A huge step up from 1 indeed.

The soundtrack was actually pretty superb, favourites being Heatman and Wily Stages 3/4 (surprisingly enough :P). I didn't have much trouble in this game as I thought but maybe it was because I picked normal mode? Anyways, the stages were all quite good. The only hard time I really had was Quickman's stage, though I did that before Flashman, so there's that XD A lot of raging and F-bombs went down from that one dropping segment alone, so yeah that sucked. The final boss was kind of a disappointment honestly. I was expecting some huge machine thing to appear out of nowhere and start wrecking everything, but instead we got a random alien. It also made no sense to me as to how its only weakness is that Bubble attack and nothing else works against it, I don't get that.

In conclusion, a really great entry into the series. Can't wait to see what MM3 is capable of...

So far:
2 > 1

Onwards to MM3!

(P.S. No, I'm not gonna play MM2 on Difficult. I might wreck my apartment, and I really don't want that to happen)

Mega Man 3 is really difficult (at least it was for me). Good luck!

Thanks, I'm probably gonna need it. I heard MM3 was quite hard, so I'm looking forward to it.

The most difficult part of Megaman 3 are the Doc Robot stages between the robot master stages and the Wily stages. Not so much the stages themselves (though they certainly do have their moments) but the fights that take place within. Good luck on those. The rest of the game is pretty fairly balanced though. Oh, and if you game over on the Wily stages, be patient and make sure to select "Continue" and not spam your way into hitting "stage select." Or you're gonna have a bad time.

Of all the games I have played, MM3 was probably the glitchiest I have played. Why, there was this time I fought Gemini Man and he pulled off a "cheap disappearing act."

I had to reset the game as a result...

Well that's odd. I've never seen that before. Then again these days I do Gemini buster only anyway, maybe it only works with the Search Snake weapon.

I'm not sure if that can trump 1's shoddy interaction between Mega Man and moving platforms. I have died many times on Ice Man's stage and Wily Castle 1 purely because the flying platforms glitched out on me and the moving platforms in Guts Man's stage somehow made Mega Man fall like a brick.

I would consider that less of a "glitch" and more of a "programming error", due to the way special platforms in MM1 as a whole were coded.

The flying platform robots, moving lifts, and Magnet Beam all stop Mega Man's downward movement while he's in contact with them, but they don't reset his velocity to zero. As a result, the moment you step off of a platform or otherwise have it taken out from under you, you're suddenly rocketing down at full speed as if you had been falling all that time.

After playing it yesterday I have decided that my favorite Megaman game is easily Rosenkreuzstilette Freudenstachel.

Megaman 3's Snake Man stage has some annoying platforming towards the end (The cloud area), platforms rise up out of these pillars (platform chimneys) that spawn platforms that float upwards and there is a (Estimate) 90% chance that standing on the platform chimney while the platform leaves it will make you rapidly zip sideways off the edge. You have to jump just before the platform leaves the chimney and land on it after it has left it if you want to be safe.
