The first and third link don't work, probably because of more damage control on Microsoft's part. But from what I learned from the second... Microsoft, please. Haven't you dug your grave deep enough already. Now you're just handing us shovels to fill it in for you.

They don't work because the URL's have been shortened by accident. Koh just needs to repaste the links.

That's just low down, why don't Microsoft understand? the only way they can sway people back to xbox is to make it stop sucking.

Okay, even I have to admit, crashing Nintendo's Best Buy experience is just... stupid. What are they even thinking there? I mean, hopefully it turns out it's just some pricks pretending to work for Microsoft to make them seem even worse, but if it's Microsoft... If Halo 5 weren't coming out, I think I might actually turn down the Xbox One because of this. But I'm hopelessly addicted to the Halo experience to not pick one up when the game comes out. :(

Well if you REALLY want to get an entire console just for a single game...more power to you.  I still to this day REALLY want to play 3D Dot Game Heroes on the PS3; but it's the only game I want on it.  So no PS3 for me XD.  Some of the titles they showed on the CrossBone looks really good, but I don't think it's worth putting up with the console's extra layers of bullshit.  You're a true trooper.

Well. if this is true, this brings a new light on everything.

Basically, the guy says that Microsoft is trying to make the XBox One into a model like Steam.  Each person is limited to one copy, so game prices can drop since companies don't have to mark up the price to compensate for used game sales.  The 24 hour check-in is an extension of that to ensure that people are trading behind their backs.  So, we very well could see the huge sales of games dropping down to $5 on the XBO, and if that happens, they may have earned themselves a ticket back.

I think the only thing Microsoft would need to implement at this point is an "offline mode".  Basically a way to set games to not being able to played on any other system (even by going to sell the game at a place like Gamestop).  I would think this could even be an option when installing the games.

Of course, if this is true (there's no real confirmation since it's supposedly a leak), Microsoft has awful PR people.  This should have been something that they should have expressed at E3.  So, I'm not holding my breath that this is true, but it honestly is a bit revolutionary for consoles if it is.

If that's true, that would be a good idea. However, until I see some of that actually in effect, I really can't jump on that bandwagon. The only issue with them trying to emulate Steam (that I see) is that they are still requiring everyone on their platform to have a publisher. That's going to make them look more like Origin than Steam, really, which isn't the best comparison to make since Origin is EA's platform.

It would be awesome if 343 would make a PC version of Halo 5. But I can see MS go all "HELL NO" with this idea.

Maximize profits by offering multiple platform options. THAT'LL NEVER WORK.

Maximize profits by offering multiple platform options. THAT'LL NEVER WORK.

It's not as simple as that.  When you're Microsoft and have two separate platforms to target, there's more to think than just the profits of individual games.  For better or worse, some people are going to buy the XBO for Halo.  In fact, I know a few people IRL who said that they're going to get the system (at least eventually) just for Halo.  Be that dumb or not, it's not the point.  It happens.

So, if Microsoft releases Halo for PC, then those people who might have bought an XBO for Halo might not get one.  If that's a significant number, then that means 3rd parties are less likely to release games on the XBO due to fears of their games not selling enough to justify the efforts.  Then the XBO starts getting stuck in this downward spiral (the same sort of spiral Nintendo consoles get in) that lead to failure, only MS doesn't have the 1st party titles to keep the XBO afloat like Nintendo does.

So yeah, if they make a PC version, they'd be maximizing short term profits.  However, the long term effects could be devastating.

That being said, if the XBO does poorly anyway (it most likely won't), causing the next Halo game to do well, they'll probably release it on the PC to help recuperate some of their losses.

There are no competitors fighting Steam, any that claim they are (Like Origin for example) are still charging customers retail prices with hardly any specials/discounts happening. Considering the Xbox360 store, I wouldn't trust them at all to knock prices to $20 or less.

We're not trying to justify anything. The features are stupid, their moves are stupid such as what they did to Nintendo. But the exaggerated constant nagging -- hate if you will -- of the Xbox One is really as just getting as unnecessary as the features themselves since the point was made a loooong time ago. This thread is less becoming a discussion thread and more "let's beat up the dead horse whenever we find a legit reason to.".  :|

This guy thinks the "leek" is fake, and gives some decent reasons. Also, if MS were doing this in order to bring significantly cheaper RRPs to new release games that would have been a talking point at E3. Even if publishers are raking in more money, I guarantee they won't drop the prices of their games.

Here you go. Allegedly that comment was regarding the 360, not the One. I'm still sceptical about that.

Also, I'm surprised nobody has bitched about Microsoft using Windows 7 PCs to demo their Xbone games rather than the actual hardware. But before anybody does, know that that is kind of standard practice anyway. There are plenty of rumours they're having hardware trouble.

Also also, there's the fact that only 21 countries will be able to use the Xbone at launch.

@Shane

Just because the discussion about something happens to be in a negative light due to its poor reputation, that doesn't disqualify it as discussion.  Think about the CDI Zelda games.  It's general consensus that the games are horrible, so when a thread revolving around them forms, it's only natural to expect people to talk about how bad the game is.  Either you made a thread and expect there to be many people who are on the opposing side, or don't make a thread at all.  You can't have it both ways.

@NoeL

As for the first link...who cites 4 chan?  Like seriously, that's even WORSE than citing Wikipedia in your school paper.  Any validity that that post would have had was immediately lost for me.

As for the rest of the stuff, I've seen it all already, from Spriter's Resource.  They're more on top of the game than over here, so I bring some of the news they post over there to here.  They've even tweeted about the country thing.
