I saw the terrible CG poking out again!  Phew.  It wouldn't be Korra without that.

 

But, it was a pretty good start.  Things are definitely picking up quickly.

The only problem is that it seems painfully obvious that the northern water tribe is behind the spirit attacks.

 

Well... I just found out there was a second episode. So I watched that.  Pretty good.

Episode Three spoilers

Well let's start with the fact that the characters are far more likable and characterized, especially Bolin; he's growing on me big time after mostly being a flop in the first season. His conversation with Mako was especially amusing; gotta applaud the writers for their sense of humor and acknowledgement of the fans' discontent for Mako.

 

So, Kya and Bumi's treatment of Tenzin was starting to annoy me and the sibling conflict seemed forced, but it picked up a bit and now seems a bit more logical, but at the same time it still feels a bit like conflict for the sake of conflict. We'll see, I suppose.

Yeah Korra's uncle is clearly the bad guy, or just extremely misguided. Emphasis on extremely. Lots of it. This whole rebellion thing is a great angle, and I'm liking the conflict and am interested to see where the story goes with this. I think Korra maybe reconciled with her family a bit too quickly, but I'm glad it happened; it was still touching. And that shocker ending. All in all, this is shaping up to be a great conflict.

 

I missed the first five minutes, so I'll have to catch them later if it goes up on a streaming site or when Nick puts it up. The broadcast was also a bit choppy, but still watchable without missing anything. This, so far, is shaping up to be superior to the first season, though I highly doubt the antagonist can be as interesting as Amon.

Episode Four spoilers

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand the truth comes out. I hope they go into a little more backstory as to Unalaq's motivation, I mean I suppose being the jealous younger brother can work but it's been done to death. If there's no further motivation, well, meh, not too important I guess, just being a bit picky.

 

Either way, still enjoying the story, the humor, and the combat. Varrick is generally pretty great, and Korra... well, not sure how I feel about her threatening death to get information out of the judge. It works, I guess, not sure what I'm trying to complain about. I do like the whole family dynamic going on with Tenzin's siblings and children, it's a good parallel and good little lesson. Strangely, for an episode with quite a bit of info, there's not much to talk about it seems, but it was still a good one.

 

Also that was the best ending.

So time for one heck of a bump. Book 3 is finished... and apparently episodes 3-6 got leaked in Spanish. While I didn't want to spoil myself by watching them, somebody put together a trailer from some of the scenes in them.

New episodes come out on nick.com the night they air. You could always use a website that tricks Nick into thinking you're in the US and watch them that way without having to wait.

I haven't seen ANY episodes. I'm waiting until all books come out on DVD so I can watch them all in one straight shot. Is 3 books all they are going to do? Just like the first series?
