It took some extensive scripting (while the Red Pakkun Monster required none whatsoever)

Enlighten me, Sensei.

Enlighten me, Sensei.

The Red Pakkun is a Walker enemy. Its Shot Type is "Summoner" and it has the ID for the Spores in the proper Misc. Attribute. The Spore enemy is actually a Keese Tribble, set to turn into the enemy "<Zero HP>", which isn't an enemy at all, but rather, a fake enemy I reserved for occasions like this-- it has 0 HP so it dies the instant it appears, and it is permanently invisible and invulnerable. This means when the Spores transform, instead they immediately die harmlessly.

The Pakkun "shoots" these little spores almost as if they're weapons, but they're real enemies.

Please feel free to use this trick, no credit needed, if you feel like it. icon_smile.gif There is a LOT you can do with just the Enemy Editor and Item Editor, you know! I don't "own" any trick in ZC, the only thing I own is my undeniable, unwavering and untouchable creative prowess.

...Okay now I'm reminded of how badly I want to play Epic Mickey. icon_biggrin.gif

I know. I made an Item called "Heart Amulet". Everytime you use it, link looses 10 rupees and gets 2 hearts! I love 2.5. And I can't understand how people can make quests with 2.10.

Can link use items like arrows on a moving platform without bugs?

Yes. I haven't encountered any issues with this one yet. icon_smile.gif

Okay, I played around with the script. There is a bug with items, and I don't think you can fix it. When he uses hookshot it doesn't look right. Its not so bad though. This script is my MOST FAVOURITE script for ZC!! Thanks so much for sharing it.

The blue peahat script looks cool! Ehm, what do you do more? Scripting or mapping?

Remember Molka Elite? That was in 2.10. Everything.

EDIT: 2 hearts for 10 Rupees? Seems a little overpowered, IMO. Consider making it, like, 3 for 20? Or even 3 for 15, just because the item is less powerful if it doesn't have as much versatility. Just my own feedback, you make the call.

That might be fixable, if a routine were installed that ignored the "Move Link" routine if the Hookshot was being used. Maybe a check for Hookshot-type LWeapons each frame?

More? I do scripting more.

I map out my ideas on paper ONLY when I'm at a loss for what to do/design next. The Hinox miniboss is such an extensive script, though, that I NEED to map out exactly what I'm coding beforehand, because scripting part of it and then changing my mind about something halfway in could make me have to delete the whole script and start over.

EDIT: Oh guess what? I made the Vires! They're not much different, behavior wise, but I am SO PROUD of the new graphics icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for the summering method I been wanting to make a summoner-type foe and plan on making 6 types (each with the element, Forest, Fire, Water ect. you get the point) For the forest one is a spore plant that stays in one spot, and can't be killed the spores die off with the trick method you given us. Oh thanks. *Puts Schwa on credits*

And nice cave screen smiley vires FTW icon_awesome.gif

You're welcome! But really, don't feel obligated to credit me for that. If you insist, then just put it down as "inspiration" I guess.

Now for another small update. It's nice to get back to the simpler things for once, such as this:
IPB Image

Fairy pond. Without the fairy, though, since all the fairies in Hyrule died/disappeared a long long time ago. It still retains its healing properties, luckily for Felix, and in addition there is a Save Point in every one of these healing spring caves.

IPB Image

A shop, run my Robblin, the rugged yet friendly Moblin merchant! (The items he has on display are NOT the real items, I just stuck some things on there as a sample to get the shop to look like it's supposed to.) Unlike his name might suggest, his sales won't rob you blind-- even if they're expensive, he'll make it worth the price.

Shops in this game all will. Items in shops will be expensive more often than not, but they'll be excellent items. It gives players more control over how they want to play; some would rather keep their Rupees handy as Slingshot ammo, while others would rather save up for the better Shop items and make do primarily with weapons other than the Slingshot. (That, and there are other things besides Shops and the Slingshot to spend Rupees on, too. icon_wink.gif ) I want to design it so the game can THEORETICALLY be beaten without spending a single Rupee, though doing so would be unrealistically implausible is all. I feel that one of the greatest problems present in Molka (my first and only database quest) was a shortage of Rupees while I was requiring the player to buy this and that (the Arrow, the Raft, and by God some of the Level 8 passageway tolls were just shameful of me), so I'll be sure to monitor it this time.

The fun part about Robblin's Shop though is that I got him to say a random greeting line every time you visit, courtesy of String Command Code 4/x/x! I've been waiting to use that for a long time, hahaha~ icon_awesome.gif

I always seem to be late for the parties... That video was just a mass amount of epic. The effects, the details, everything there, made it feel like something entirely new and fresh. I'm loving the new screens you've been posting. Your new ideas are as creative as always. Gosh, the more I read about your work here, the more excited I get to playing it. Needless to say, awesome work! icon_biggrin.gif

That shop looks funny. Classic item shops don't work well with floor tiles because classic items don't have outlines. Just saying.

You're absolutely right. I need to make the floor darker. *goes to do so* Thanks for the tip, it really helps here and there~ icon_smile.gif

Currently thinking of a way to make "classic" shops carry more than three items, and I think I figured one out. Hell, if it turns out like I want it to, I may even release it! Keep your expectations low though, just in case~ icon_razz.gif

If I may recommend something, I'd like to say that maybe you could keep the original floor tiles but use darker tiles specifically where the items and prices are. I would also recommend that you move Robblin up one tile, since he's currently standing on one of the items... icon_lol.gif

Here's an example of the darker floor tiles so you know what I mean:
IPB Image
Of course instead of just black, you should probably put darker tiles...now that I think of it, I should do that too...

Nice screenshot, and a good idea! But as of right now, that will no longer be necessary.

LOOK.

These screens are not fake. The L and R buttons may now be used in shops to scroll through as MANY ITEMS as I desire.

Took me some serious havoc figuring out the trick, but it finally works almost flawlessly! There's a very minor bug, in that when the Shop is "scrolled" all the way to the right, the Price for the middle item is instead displayed underneath the (invisible) right item, unless I give it a price of "1" (which is just fine since you still can't buy the invisible placeholder item, I gave it a "Hearts Needed" value of 999 and set the rule "Hearts Needed for Non-Special Items" to TRUE). So it's hardly an issue at all.

Still figuring out how to get a String to display properly, though! icon_toast.gif One step at a time, one step at a time...

P.S: Thank GOD we have more than 16 Shop Type IDs to use now. icon_lol.gif I don't even want to imagine.

EDIT - QUESTION: Would it look better with the L/R icon transparent, or removed entirely when it's scrolled all the way to one side?

OMFG Schwa! That has got to be one of the most awesome things I've seen recently. I really shouldn't be surprised that you are doing all these nifty scripts though, since you've gotten to be damn good at them. Great work, can't wait to see it in action. icon_biggrin.gif
