I really like that subscreen. It's simple, clean but gets the point across. Nice work there. icon_smile.gif I assume 'Map' would be the area's name? If not, that would be my suggestion. icon_cat.gif

It may just be me but the walls feel a little too "short." It's an interesting take on perspective though. icon_smile.gif

Hm, so this is like GB walls in RPG perspective? Interesting. If your other graphics such as trees and houses and everything also uses GB proportions mostly, than then this is pretty cool I think. If everything else is considerably taller then the dungeon will probably look/feel odd.

Thank you both for your input. I thought it was a little odd being small at first, but I figured I should see what others thought too. icon_smile.gif

From the looks of things, I'll probably extend it up one tile so it's taller and fits with other stuff well. I looked at some of the dungeon decor I wanted to use and...well...it's as Yoshimi said; it looked and felt odd. D:

I didn't think that through, I forgot to add a minimap title and I guess if I have a title I won't need a text box that says 'Map.' Thanks!

Critiques, comments, complaints? I'm all ears. I actually already entered this in SotW a few weeks back, but I didn't get a lot of comments on in, so I'm looking for a few more critiques.

I like it. The only thing is that the mountains look kinda odd to me and the green on the left is a little confusing to look at. By that I mean that the leaves on the 'dead' trees seem to blend really well with the big bush trees. Also, may I ask what the squiggly lines in the sky are? (It's probably something obvious and I'm being an idiot. icon_xd.gif)

But to be clear, I really do like it. It kinda says to me 'Come into this cave! Good things and many dangers await! icon_biggrin.gif'

And for continuing what I was doing a little while ago.

IPB Image

I did these myself this time with the previous perspective in mind. The pillars are crap I realize and the transitions from the side to front could be a little more graceful, but it should fit a lot better, right? (Again, don't mind the screen design here. I'm more seeking if it fits or not.)

The perspective is fine, but can you either outline the edge of the floor where it meets the lava, or slightly extend the side-view of the walls so you can put something there? It kind of looks odd just the way it is. I mean, the entire screen looks great, and I like the idea and everything, it's just the floor-to-lava transition. Another idea on the transition would be to add a sort of edge tile for the lava, like how water would have sort of a wavy edge where it meets the ground. I don't know, just something to fix that transition would just make this perfect.

Yes, I agree. It looks a little confusing, I think. The colors are too similar; I'll change that sometime soon. Thanks for the suggestion!

Also, may I ask what the squiggly lines in the sky are?

They're supposed to be wisps of clouds high in the atmosphere, although they do look a little cartoon-y. But I digress, that's kinda what I'm going for, I guess.

I looks like you made the walls taller, looks better that way to me. icon_smile.gif

However where the wall meets the lava is a little odd, especially in the corner (the red bricks suddenly stopping in a straight line).
And given the perspective on the walls, you'd expect to see some elevation change with the lava.

Kurt91: What I think I'll end up doing is making the sides of the lava have a little wall about half the size as the front wall like I do for the dungeon walls so it fits the perspective and is consistent. I agree entirely that it looks odd. Thank you. icon_smile.gif

William: No problem! icon_biggrin.gif

EDIT:

Blue_Knight: I agree. I hadn't really thought of doing that with the lava quite yet, but I will add something or another to make it look better...At least, that's the goal. icon_xd.gif Thank you. icon_smile.gif

Hmm... I can't see your map because for some reason I get a "page cannot be displayed" error whenever I clicked on it.

Another GB shot. I want comments and prefably critique on this shot. I'm trying to get warmed up before I enter SotW 350.

That's because Jay got the quote versus name thing backwards:

Note this is Jay's picture, not mine. I'm just fixing the url tag for him. icon_smile.gif

The bright red rails literally kill the dark feel it's trying to give. Also, Why is there a fairy statue in the bottom corner? o-o Like I mean is it there for a reason?

Also, a custom subscreen would be nice~

Also, Link's position on the Dmap is a little... out of this world~

Also, why are the flames of the torches brown?

Ooh, I like that. icon_smile.gif

The only reason for the torch is because I haven't thought of editing them yet. Thanks for the tip. icon_cat.gif Now that I've got a sort of template down, I can hopefully start getting some interior tiles made up. icon_smile.gif
