What do you think? The GB sprites are starting to really anger me...I need edits or replacements. Not to mention, their animations are HORRIBLE. icon_frown.gif

Bourkification submitted those a while ago.

Might I suggest you only use one kind of tree per area? I know, that contradicts with everything PZC screendesign preaches, but Nintendo for example does it that way and their games have a tendency to actually look good IMO.

Thanks, Yoshimi! I really like those tiles.

And I don't really like the dead tree there, but I'm keeping the basic and MC tree.

I made a lot more of those sprites using Bourkifications tiles as base.

That looks very very good Jared, the only problem I could think of are indeed the GB sprites.

It looks nice, all though is there anything you can do about the greys and blues? Then look... dull. I think making the plants more positioned may pull out some effect. Overall, it's a nice map all though it needs some work and adjustments.

Slashable bushes are in. As you can guess by now, this required me to manually script the "Slash Bushes" effect, with the leaves scattering and whatnot. Hey, at least this way, my Bush combos don't require the Under Combo to be set! icon_love.gif

Edit: As soon as I come up with a reliable way to do this, I'm going to have the green leaves be a different CSet depending on the color of the bush that was slashed. Right now these leaves really ought to be red, not green. But I want it to work with any CSet in the game, too, not just this one... Might have purple bushes in the Swamp or something and I'd want them to be purple in that case... Ahh, the riddles I must solve daily for the sake of a hobby! icon_wacky.gif

Also shown: Thorn Patches. I decided I didn't like the little white spikes from the earlier prototype quest, so I drew up a set of spikes that looked more like razor-sharp roots sticking up out of the earth.

Debating whether or not I want to add in a system where ground enemies will take damage from thorns too. Knocking them into water already kills them in one hit, so this would be a similar system and it would kinda be more consistent so...

The fact that you scripted that is pretty impressive, but isn't there already a bush->next combo that doesn't require undercombos?

If it's any help, I've got a function for smashing pots that could probably be adapted pretty easily.

Yes, but my scripted Sword physics are powered by Sword Beams, not actual Swords. So this means bushes, grass, everything becomes unslashable. I went and utilized their now-useless properties after all.

Oh thank you, but I think I'm fine. icon_smile.gif I looked through it and the part that would need adapting pretty much looked like how I already formed half of it in my head anyway. Nice to know you and I think on the same page, though~ icon_love.gif

How does this look? (Thanks Gonken for submitting those mountain edits! They make life so much easier!)

Edit: I know it could use some flowers. I kinda rushed this because I have work to do.

The big brown slab of rock (I assume it's a rock?) doesn't really fit. Also, the way the mountain forms sharp edges on either side of the waterfall is slightly awkward, as does the transition from the one on the right to a straight, square section. Aside from that, I like that screen!

It looks good, but doesn't the MCWater use more colors than that?

Also, i'm glad you liked the tiles icon_biggrin.gif
