The stickers being applied to your characters are similar to the applying of jewels to slotted weapons or armor in Diablo 2. Besides looking pretty, (The Stickers in Both SSBB and Diablo 2.) they have a stat-raising function. It just so happens that all of the characters have build in "slots" for jewels/stickers, in that their trophies' base stands can hold the stickers.
The stickers/jewels each have their own unique properties. You can apply them to your characters before each area in Subspace Emissary (Nowhere else though do they have a use aside from decoration and arrangement.) or remove them (And they're gone forever until you pick up a replacement during the course of a match.) ... and when you apply them, they'll give your character certain bonuses to characteristics during the match, as long as the sticker remains on them, which they will all through out, your character will have whatever bonuses that the stickers have applied to them from then on, so long as the sticker isn't removed by yourself between matches.
... ... bleh. I'm awful at explaining things.
Basically, each sticker gives you bonuses to the so far unmentioned attributes. Sticker #2j342 (Made up name) when attached to you will give you resistance to being kicked. Sticker #n523ls will give you resistance to fire. Sticker #Fk20032 will let you fly less far when attacked.

But this poses another question: how hard will The Subspace Emissary be, overall? Are the stickers for newbies, or is Intense mode even harder than Melee's Very Hard? I MUST FIND OUT!

On a minor note. I love story modes, and this adds superness to the game. Just thought I'd say that.

Also speaking of the delay, I made a video on youtube about my reaction of the SSBB delay if anyone wants a good laugh:

When you talk to Ruto after beating the Water Temple. PAY ATTENTION NEXT TIME, ST
"A young man named Sheik rescued me from beneath the ice." ~Ruto (actually, she says it when you first meet her in the Temple I think, but I think she calls him a man again after you beat the temple)
Which is why I always said that Sheik was a guy, and scoffed when people said he was a girl. Then he was referred to as "she" in SSBM (despite still having the manly figure and a bulge) and the she-fans tried to rub it in. This is my understanding though:
Zelda is a woman.
Sheik is Zelda in disguise, thus being, physically, a woman.
The character Sheik however, is a man.
It'd be like an ugly pasty cosplay girl dressing up as Vegeta. Vegeta isn't a "she", only the person behind the costume is.
He's referred to as "she" in Smash Bros because they're referring to "Zelda as Sheik" rather than "Sheik" himself.

I just watched the movies again for fun. It got me so chilly and hyped. I can't wait. Also, I noticed that I really like how Snake moves.
I still get the same feeling, too, especially in the first trailer, when Meta-Knight and Pit fight on the Halberd stage. Also, Fox's Space Armada and Lucas's Pig Army music produce the same effects every time.
Nintendo is really shooting for that epic feel.

1. I'm glad Sheik made it back in. The new look is pretty cool.
2. I'm NOT glad that Sheik is still a dual-role with Zelda.
3. It doesn't make sense for Twilight Princess Zelda to turn into Sheik. Sheik was plot-specific to OoT.
4. I hope Zelda isn't like she was in Melee: useless compared to Sheik.

Well, here's something my sister pointed out:
Among other differences, Sheik had differently colored eyes than Zelda. She believes this suggests that disguising herself as Sheik required a magical ruse of sorts, and not just a costume. She also believes that Impa trained Zelda in the ways of the Sheikah while they were in hiding.
It certainly isn't far-fetched to think that the Sheikah's "Ninja Magic" is capable of a tangible magical disguise. If nothing else, compare it to "Sexy no Jutsu" in Naruto.
Since Sheik is a male disguise for Zelda, I don't see anything wrong with using either gender pronoun. I would be hesitant to say that pronouns on the official site prove anything, though, until someone looks at the Japanese site to see whether pronouns are used at all (they're optional in Japanese). In other words, I'll do it later.

I'm a few days late, but I wanted to pop in to say a few brief things.

Bah quit yer bellyache'n!
1. Zelda is FAR from useless compared to Sheik. She is MUCH stronger, has a kick arse reflect move, and a projectile you can aim mid-flight. Sheik's only advantage over Zelda is speed, and while that's a great advantage it certainly doesn't render Zelda as "useless". If you're a Sheik-only guy, then you just suck at utilising the Zelda-Sheik combo.
2. In Smash Bros Samus fights with Link, despite being from totally different time periods. Does that make sense? Characters fight on the back of spaceships, in an environment devoid of oxygen. Does THAT make sense? Chewbacca is a wookie. Why would an eight foot wookie want to live with three foot Ewoks? IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! So why ***** about TP Zelda transforming into OOT Link? It's a fact. Look it up. I heard it on the intercom... at work...
