About to start up on Level 2. My main goal is at least 4 dungeons.

Nice progress! You're doing well :D

Well, I finished my overworld and started work on my first dungeon... but since yesterday morning, I've spent hours on the phone with the university I'm going to trying to straighten things out, I still have more phone calls ahead of me, a coworker's grandmother is dying so I'm working two extra shifts today and tomorrow to cover here, I've got a Spanish test tomorrow that I haven't studied enough for, and I might have another test next week. Oh, and I might be getting sick. Do you ever feel like the universe is conspiring against you when you try to do something? That said I'm really going to try to finish this contest. Just need to catch up from the slow day yesterday.

Wow, Russ, I really hope you don't get sick. That would be just horrible. And how do you have tests? I don't understand. And I think you are pretty far. You still have like 11 days left, and you've already finished the overworld. Now all you have to do is the Levels, and other fine-tuning, and maybe making the scripts. I think you'll be able to do it. :D Just keep at it, Russ!

I'm taking CLEP tests to get extra college credit. As for what's left... I've got way more than that. I need to script all my enemies and bosses, make all my cutscenes (aside from the intro), make three dungeons (two aren't even planned on paper), make all the caves, finish scripting some stuff. I hope I'll be able to do it, but there's a lot of stuff to get done.

Oh I see. You do have quite a lot. But, I'm going to say this again... YOU WILL FINISH!! :D If you aren't already, I suggest just making all of the screens left and then adding the scripted enemies and bosses, and then fine tune everything. I'm just trying to help, because you've got to finish. I'd say you've got around 25% of the quest done by now, so if you keep working at the same speed or faster you'll be able to complete it. :D Anyways, good luck to everyone on finishing the quests as it looks like it's going to be a close call for many people.

I'd hate to do this, but I'm going to have to drop out. I mean, I'm still going to finish the project I started, but with me just getting a job, going to training, and dealing with life in general, there's no way I could finish this in two weeks unless I devoted EVERY moment of my free time to it. :/ Sorry Russ.

Still working hard.

I doubt I can finish it in time though, and there will probably be more people like me.

What about a special demo section for those who aren't able to finish in time?

The two week limit is the point of this contest, so the quest needs to be so short that it's managable to make in time.

Well, that's fine, but there's also nothing with saying the quest is done, then adding the content you had to cut to make a formal submission later. In effect, it's still a demo, but it can stand alone.

Today was pretty much the funnest day by far.

Mostly because I got incredibly creative with level 2, which I started and finished today.

No problem, I understand. Good luck finishing the project later!

As for myself, I finished the first floor of the first level last night after work. Not too much work, but it's something. I'm gonna use this weekend to crank out the work, I think. Hopefully. Assuming real life doesn't continue to slap me around.

Okay, Jay and I are really long ovedue on our update.

So far, we have been blazing through screen designs. The tiny overworld is finished (the focus of the game is largely on dungeons, which are large enough and challenging enough to make up for the size of the overworld).

Screens for the first dungeon are finished.

As for scripts (another big focus of the project), so far, I've created a light autoghost system (no, it's proprietary and fitted for this quest, so don't expect a public release) and completed a scripted standard enemy.

We have big plans for boss fights and elite mobs, along with puzzles (some scripted) and traps in the dungeons. This quest is going to be challenging to play. :)
