27 episodes, 16 is skippable because it's a recap episode only with zero new footage.

And 6 is skippable too because it's nothing but dirty filler and fanservice. <_<

But yeah, Gurren Lagann's amazing. As a general rule of thumb, I dislike anime, but GL... even though it got a bit too over the top at times (which is what most people enjoy, but was a bit of a turnoff for me honestly), the story it tells is simply incredible, and is one of my favorite stories across any medium. You really oughta watch it.

I'd argue it's not skippable because there are some funny moments and it leads directly into episode 7 and has an important character-development moment with Gimmy.

... in the unedited version anyway.

I'm watching Code Geass (STAFF EDIT: link removed) and it reminds me a little about Death Note

Quick reminder to everyone not to post links to illegal anime streaming sites (which is pretty much all of the free ones.) There's a pretty good list here of legal anime sites if it helps: http://www.crunchyro...-download-sites

If you love story, Baccano is seriously up your alley- it has the best story of any anime I've ever seen; I rank it above GL.  It's free to watch on Hulu, and 16 episodes.  Please please pleeeease try it.  The story focuses around the 1920s/30s in America, what with prohibition and mafias and...other certain things that make it a hell of a lot more interesting.  It has a massive cast of characters that are all incredibly well created, and the show is non-linear, but all the events that happen, they just kind of make sense in the order in which they show you- before a new scene happens, they show you the year it happens, and it just starts to form a timeline in your mind.  By the end of it all, everything that was meant to be will make sense.

It wouldn't come to anyone's surprise that someone is watching an incredibly popular Anime like Attack on Titan.

That's why it wouldn't be surprising for anyone to hear that I'm watching it, albeit slowly.

Also just finished Sword Art Online a few weeks ago before I started watching Titan. All wonderful story content.

Attack on Titan is really nice, although the second half really feels like it's stretching stuff and going too slow. And those x minute long parts at the beginning of the episode where they look back at what happened are starting to become a pain too.

Still, must watch.

Danganronpa is fun too. Just don't start playing the game halfway through or you'll start to notice how rushed the anime actually is.

So I've acquired a couple of Miyazaki movies to see if they'll help my opinion overall of him. I've only seen Ponyo, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Princess Mononoke in the past. To judge by the first two isn't really fair since those aren't marketed toward my tastes, they're... fine, I guess, and Ponyo's at least ridiculously cute. Princess Mononoke... wasn't bad but I didn't care for it. So I've acquired some of his other better-reviewed films to check out.

Started with Howl's Moving Castle. Wasn't too bad. I kind of liked the story, though I had a few complaints, but it was neat I guess. Only major problem was Howl being voiced by Christian Bale. That in and of itself wasn't a problem, but any time he spoke I couldn't get Bruce Wayne out of my mind. Then there was a scene where Howl speaks using the Batman voice... Yeah, that was just a source of amusement for me. :heh:

The others I have lined up are My Neighbor Totoro, Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, and Getting Nausea from the Wind. No, it's "Nausicaa" and something else to do with wind, I can't remember. I'd actually never heard of it before but a friend recommended it so I grabbed it. I'm not expecting much from Totoro, just because I know it's a kids' film, but figured it's popular enough that I might as well check it out while I'm looking at his other films.

The first, and still to date favorite Miyazaki film is Spirited Away. It was simply enchanting through and through, and I'm not really quite sure why. Either way, enjoy the lineup!

Go to the library and pick up the printed version of Howl's Moving Castle. Great book, but the movie actually changed so much of the plot that it's not really the same story anymore. I believe the book version had a sequel as well, but I don't recall what it's called.

I dunno. I don't read books often because I never seem to have the attention span for them anymore, though my friend also likes the book and wants me to read it. Probably won't though. The sequel, ironically, is "Castle in the Air," but is unrelated to Miyazaki's Castle in the Sky. :P

My roommate and I have started watching Nichijou at the recommendation of a few people.

Something else of note that I've watched recently is Kara no Kyoukai, or Garden of Sinners.  It's a really good series written by the writer of the Fate/Stay Night VN.  The first movie is just okay, but the rest are pretty good.  I definitely recommend it to anyone who is into supernatural stuff.

I'll probably also pick up the Psycho Pass series soon as well.  Anything with Gen Urobuchi's name on it has me sold. :blah:
