More tedious sprite drawing for the Red Mage that can't be bothered to just import a PNG file. I'm almost wondering if I have a fetish for doing things the hard way. Anyway, the sprites are of enemies from Fester's Quest and The Guardian Legend. Well, hopefully sometime before April, I'll have the 5th overworld section completed and have the groundwork for level 6 laid out.
What did you accomplish in ZC today?

World 3 and Level 3 are taking a lot longer than expected, but it is way better than the first two worlds. Every warp works as it should, I have another 2.10 boss set up and almost ready for me to test. I made 4 new enemies from scratch (I had to make my own animations). Learned how to upload images from the computer to zquest. The third boss was created this way. Learned how to use screen state carry overs and have several of them in level 3. Made a simple mini boss battle with multiple phases.

Opened ZQ after a long hiatus. Time to finally get this thing done (as I planned to in 2012)

I finally got some more motivation to continue my ZC quest, and to start it all off, it's time to continue work on Level 4 in my quest.

Finished the introduction of my quest. Needs major polishing though but otherwise, it's cool.

Nothing, because I can't decide what to do about all slopes and stuff in my overworld...lol.

Please refrain from posting things such as this in the thread. This thread is for what you did in ZC today, not for posting that you did nothing in ZC. Thank you. ![]()

I made a town a little snazzier, adjusted some monster resistances, fixed some tiles that weren't supposed to be unwalkable, but my biggest chore today was making 17 new nearly identical items. I also made someone say "pretty pretty! shiny shiny!" xD

I finished my second 2.10 style boss today. Works perfectly! What is the final boss in one game is only the third boss in mine. ![]()

I finished my second 2.10 style boss today.
Oy, 2.10 bosses... Just a word of warning, be VERY careful and make sure the boss feels organic, and not just like a pile of combos sitting around spawning enemies. 2.10 bosses are very easy to do bad.

Took the dungeon water tiles from the BS set and blew them up to 2x2 to make some stormy seas for my overworld. Cleaned the now blocky edges and made it into 4 8-tile combos. It didn't look right.
Painstakingly cycled the water tiles so they looked like they were sliding left and down over a period of 16 tiles. Ended up with a weird jerk in the water. No good.
Went a different direction and created a wave effect for the water, which involved 8-10 edits of each tile. I'd make a copy of the tile and the tile below it, then edit each one up one pixel, cycling the cutoff edge from top of one to bottom of the other. Then I'd only use anywhere from one-pixel to four-pixel vertical slices of each to create the actual usable tile over the course of the 8-10 height edits. Repeat sixteen times, shifting the wave two pixels each tile. It took 16 tiles, two cycles of the original 8, to complete the wave. Suffice it to say, it took some time.
All in ZQuest proper. No 3rd party program for me!
And it still doesn't look quite right. Definitely more chaotic, but still not right. My sailing ship script looks good though

I added Horks and Orcs to Dragon Quest Adventure!
EDIT: Forget the Horks. They're ugly and they drool a lot. Instead I added Snail Slimes! XD

I haven't posted in this thread in a while. Today, I spent a lot of time playing through areas of an old quest, and testing things out. I spent a lot of time changing small things, and making it feel less like it was started 9 years ago
A lot of polishing, and finishing touches have gone into the earlier dungeons, and mini dungeons.
