Started my forest area after completing three more palettes. It's going great after several palette/graphical adjustments. I added a "forest pollen" effect to, with a big help of a simple FFC script and combo cycling. I thought the pollen would make up for the lack of a canopy shadow.
What did you accomplish in ZC today?

No, what he means is that Vault of Souls was a two week quest that had 5,000 lines of code. So his two week quest having 2,000 lines of code isn't as impressive in terms of sheer number of lines, but it's still a heck of a lot of code for a two week quest. What do you mean you got nothing on Vault of Souls? Are you doing a remake of it?
It's also probably much better code, but that's beside the point.

Exploited Zelda Classic "insta-warp" and "dark rooms" and the famous "duplicate screen" trick to make a neat (but trivial, whatever) effect.

Now that I conquered the ultimate challenge in Isle of Rebirth, it is time for me to continue working on my quest.
Today, I made my first arena and made a lava maze for the raft. If you hit a dead end, you die. ![]()

Relational tiles, dungeon carving, and a lot of combo aliases have been set up. Tedious work for sure, but it'll save me boatloads of time in the future.

I made some alternate GB Link sprites. I think they turned out pretty nice!
Credit goes to Charizard, of course. He made the original side and back (east/west and north) views; I just came along and added the front (south) view and slash tiles. Result is here.

Today I broke a lot of scripts.
All resulting in a successful Freeform Shutter script to work... yaaay.
Edit: Nevermind, the script can compile, but I have no clue how to get it to function correctly -_-

World 5 created. I have the first three screens made as well as the new custom caves for that area. I still need to finish the palette, as I only have CSet 2's version of it completed. Was going to use Faxanadu's "World of Mist" music (midi titled JUI_FaxMasco), but when I looked back and realized the forest wasn't going to be dark or foggy, I decided on another obscure track from a game called Mega Man Soccer. I'm using Woodman's Field for the forest theme (midi titled T_RockManSoccer_WoodMan). Below are some screenshots:

The left is the entrance which has the small pond as the anti-noob gate. The right is one of the underground caves with the guys in them.
On another note, I darkened the green colors of CSet 7 because they were too bright. Also, do you guys think I should remove all of the "hold up item" flags on screens you pick up keys? It seems a bit redundant to have the ALttP key sound AND the Ocarina of Time themes go off at the same time.
On another note, getting sick of ZC lagging. It doesn't matter if I shut everything down but it, have it in full screen mode or what, it loves running at 45-50 FPS. Makes testing my quest hard when the FPS is jumping all over the place. What's weird is the lag only seems to be when working on my quest. I don't have any scripts, but I notice ZC takes up more resources running my quest than say one that's more Z1 like. It's not like I'm trying to run this on a Windows 95 with 8 MB of RAM on it either.

I'd say remove "Hold Up item" for all the keys. I agree, having LTTP and OoT sound effects go off at the same time doesn't sound right at all.
Anyway, I like the look of the forest, that dark green colour really gives it a great atmosphere to the quest!
As for me, I managed to remove the Freeform Shutter script and return back to my other two. I have an alternative for this kind of problem... SIDE-WAPRS!

If it's the freeform shutter script I'm using, It's great, but there are some quirks that might come up if you have other (global) scripts. PM if you need any help.

Made my very first overworld map and made a dungeon map, but crashed and burned when I tried to make a special item cave.
So then I came here, created a profile and played through three dungeons of Tales of Christoph, by Moosh.
@RedWizardAdam: Faxanadu's World of Mist is a fantastic track.

Yeah, I was really torn between the two tracks for awhile, but considering the forest has no fog, the World of Mist theme doesn't seem too fitting. That and the forest's palette IMO is a bit too bright for that. Plus I think Megaman Soccer is more obscure than Faxanadu. The World of Mist doesn't really fit World 5's personality. What I did was play my quest with both tracks and it felt IMO better with the Megaman Soccer track.

That's awesome. I hope to one day, before too long, to be making soundtrack choices of my own!
