So, I got more of my Level 2 done, thinking of adding in my first ice-related puzzle where the Candle will be needed.

I just finished level 1 in my game! Everything works properly! My very first dungeon is complete!

Got ALL of the strings done (finally) and have started expanding a bit more on the overworld. Still deciding if I'll implement scripted features or not. Maybe I'll make an extra dungeon involving post-z1 stuff. But for now, the DoR Z1 remake is going to remain in vanilla form.

Well, seeing as the Expo is dying down, I decided to start taking everyone's feedback and I began to add more detail to my quest. I'm also addressing many bugs that were found and issues, such as having too many enemies on screen. I got all of World 1 completed for graphic fixing and reducing enemy numbers from criminally insane to actually manageable. I guess my problem is I get so used to the massive number of enemies because I test my own quest so frequently that I try to get to the point I can no death my own quest. Don't get me wrong, I still do die sometimes, but I think I'm at the point I can consistently no death what I've made, even before making screens have fewer enemies so it's not pure chaos.

But one thing still bugs me. How can I make the Cane of Byrna useful, but not game breaking? As it stands, it costs 400 Rupees for a slow moving fireball to rotate around you, doing only Wooden Sword damage. It's really not worth its high price tag, as from watching Jubbz's stream, it did more harm than help. I don't want to make it overpowered, but I do think I should nerf the price down to around 100-200 Rupees so it's not a piece of junk. The only real power I gave it is the ability to hit Darknuts (and it seems to bypass their shields most of the time) but only do half damage. Think I should make it do full damage to them instead? I do plan for two higher leveled canes later, the L2 one having a faster fireball and L3 having a very fast fireball that does White Sword damage.

I'll probably spend the next few days on ironing out some of Adam's Quest II's flaws, bugs and other issues. I regret absolutely nothing with the Expo. Just wondering, should I post a final thoughts thing about my expo experience as a first timer on my Expo thread or somewhere else on the forums? I think I would like to offer some advice to other people that would like to submit to future entries and talk about how I felt during it.

Making it less expensive would help. You could also make some enemies weak to magic attacks. Maybe those wizzrobe like enemies in level three that can only be hurt by bombs and arrows. What you can also do is make the initial power of the Cane of Byrna equal to the white sword, but make all enemies except some chosen ones take half damage or quarter damage from it.

I'll probably make the Cane hurt those Yellow/Brown Wizzrobes that are normally only hurt by bombs and arrows. I think I could keep the damage the same though, but I'm definitely considering slashing the price down at least 50% (from 400 down to 200). I was going to have it stun bubbles, but then that makes it kind of a game breaker. Another idea I thought was making it able to one-hit KO Keese, although the most durable one I have so far is a normal Bat and by the time you first encounter them, you already have a Magical Sword tier weapon to deal with them. Could help with those annoying purple ones in level 4 though.

So I got Level 3's area started. And I've started thinking about some interesting Raft-type puzzles I can make for the area and its dungeon.

I just finished that last little corner of my quest's overworld that hadn't been filled in before (...since it wasn't reachable until after beating level 8 and all.)  Also made some more tiles and another palette for this area, and finally added in the message scene after you clear Level 8.

Also, did something with the overworld minimap so that it's not just a field of featureless gray squares.  It's no spacebar map (which will be disabled in my quest), but it should make navigating a bit easier than the default gray grid at least.  Areas that have their own dmap get the "everything grayed out but this area" versions of these maps, while the general overworld areas get the full map.  Maybe I'll gray-out all the other dmaps on the "general overworld areas" map too... haven't decided on that for sure yet.

More fixing up my quest based on expo thread feedback. Mostly overworld fixing up to make things look smoother. However, one thing I don't know how I could make better is this room in level 5:

Spoiler

The block Link stands next to is pushable and leads to the Silver Armor, or this quest's version of the Red Ring. Now, here's where the issue comes in. There is a guy in a pay for info room near the dungeon on the overworld, but I noticed that many people don't buy info in quests. The problem is not buying the info puts the player at a HUGE disadvantage. I was wondering what would be the best solution(s) to this problem:

1. Make the block near where Link is standing a slightly different color to denote that it's pushable so people are far less likely to miss the item?

2. Make someone direct you to the info guy within the dungeon so you pay the 50 Rupees for that hint?

3. Put the Triforce piece in the item cellar and have the armor in the room pictured? In other words, swap the locations?

4. I was thinking about around the area where level 6 is putting a shop that you could buy the armor in the event you missed it, but at a high price. That way, the player is only put at a disadvantage for one mini-dungeon and part of the overworld housing level 6.

5. Similar to above, but have an NPC in the overworld around that same area ask something like "Did you find better armor in the Inferno Cavern? If not, try pushing a block near the boss's lair."

6. Any other idea?

Do bear in mind I plan to keep this located around the same point in the game because it's around level 5 that the Bronze Armor (Blue Ring) is just not cutting it anymore. I'd rather not resort to enemy nerfing, because at this point, I believe before entering level 5 you can have up to 11 or 12 hearts, so you have a good number of hearts to help you. What do you guys think?

Credit sequence done. I just need to make a short ending and a few little goodies for people finishing the game on various difficulties.

I just got done with my second dungeon complete with my first ever 2.10 style boss. The boss works similar to the yellow devil from the mega man games. I also learned how to set whistle warp points to warp you to places where you collect a triforce piece.

Well, knowing you I suppose it's time to dig up some old repressed Mega Man memories...Hoo boy!
