That's a pretty rad HD update, Koh. I always wondered why Link was always looking at his feet in aLttP... seems timid. Hey, maybe that's why the Dark World turned him into a scared little rabbit!
Why did you stick with the pink hair, though? In the manual he had orange hair; I always figured the pink was just to help enhance contrast due to limited resources.
It was just to follow the original colors. So I went ahead and made an alt version using the orange and red for the hair. Also got rid of the gray and blues, since those were actually on separate palettes from Link.

I hope I make TS proud!

The face. It terrifies me. It gazes into my soul. And probably my gonads.

Sorry. Can't say I really care for it. As Alestance said, the face is very creepy, and I don't care much for the style in general. It doesn't seem very "Zelda-ish" at all, it's too... I dunno, it seems more like how another game would represent Link in its own style. He seems too short and Gnome-like, and the hair and shield bug me as well. ![]()

It looks more like it's a stylized Chibi Dragon Quest style, and as such, the proportions don't lend well for anything aside for full-stop Anime mode. I made an edit to try and fix the face myself (and boy am I rusty), the closest I could get to making the face look agreeable is this:

@TS: The hair was based on this
But otherwise, I tried to follow the original face style, but apparently failed you, lol.

Link's looking mighty cross eyed there o.o. But it's basically the eyes?

I'm not gonna sleep tonight. You could make a good Zelda themed horror game with this I bet. Something about those eyes is just...truly unsettling.
Alestance's version looks better but adds the issue of that he looks crosseyed.
Edit: If you want to go for something truly terrifying, add blink animations.

When I see your original representation? It makes me think of the face stretch mini game in Super Mario 64. More specifically, Mario's hat pulled all the way back, so his irises are detached from his eyeballs.

You have no idea how much I'm cracking up right now XD. Theoretically, that could be fixed by moving the pupils up a pixel.

Tried editing the face a bit. Also the shield. Compare to my avatar.

I think that's definitely better than before. I wish there were a way of making him look slightly less stocky. I know it's a reimagining of LttP's Link, but he just looks a little to barrel-shaped for my tastes.

I agree the proportions are weird, but I blame that on the original proportions.
When I HR, I try to keep the same amount of chibi / stylization as the original LR graphic, just adding more details. If his body weren't so wide on the original sprite, it definitely wouldn't have turned out like that on the HR sprite. I could always take the liberty of deviating from those rules, but where's the challenge in that X3?
It does help to look at it as Chibi though, and not trying to mimic realistic proportions. That's what you think of LR sprites, and it should also carry over for HR sprites, since you only have so much extra room when trying to maintain the same amount of chibi / stylization of the original.

Hey, Koh! I've been watching the progression of this sprite for a while and it this kind of thing seems pretty fun! Not to mention, I've been doing a lot of revamps lately and I've always wanted to attempt something like this. Here's my interpretation I cooked up in about 2 hours.

As you can see, I took a lot more of a western approach...slightly more gritty with higher-contrast shading that takes advantage of the (surprisingly strong) variety of colors this sprite has. I removed two browns, though...they seemed kind of pointless.

That's certainly different! I like how you went full on custom there~ I wouldn't be able to tell it was LTTP Link if it weren't for the pink hair, lol. The only thing I'd say is that I can tell you intermixed the two different sets of greens from the hat and tunic. I'm guessing your sprite ultimately wouldn't be two-tone with the tunic colors. But that's definitely an interesting take, I like! Also yes, HRing can be fun~ Everyone should try it.
