I'm looking forward to see what everyone can pull off in this contest! I wish you all luck in it. :)

I've would've entered but some things popped up and I don't have the time... Oh well maybe next year haha...

Pffffft! Planning? Who needs planning? I wing most of my dungeons. I only plan bosses, themes, and items. :heh:

Pretty much the same thing I do, I don't need planing except for what items people get and bosses.

I let the dungeons and over world come out at random. I mean look at most of the games I've made they had no planing at all (I mean it).

Well, I'm working on level 9 right now. I'm planning to have at least 50 levels, not joking here.

(though, each "level" is actually just one screen big and it's more like an arcade puzzle game)

I'm really looking forward to this!

Huh, I guess I'm the only slow worker here. :( I finished Level 1(It's Short. >.>) and made quite a bit of the overworld(and I by that, I mean like 1/8.)

I'm like halfway through Level 1, but only have about 2 screens of the overworld area that houses level 1. Its an interesting area/dungeon that should bring a few people back to their pre-ZC days...

You call yourself a slow worker? I have not even started Level 1. :worried: Though, I have completed 19/64 of the overworld screens.

Edit - Okay, now I have 24/64 done. I've finished the town and forest already. :kawaii:

I have only about 1 row of overworld and a short (but by fighting and avoiding) hard Level 1 done.

I am working on a overworld and a town in the game now. And

I was expecting that.

Hey, nothing wrong with planning. :P I personally think it's important because if you plan all your quest you get a clear vision of where you're taking your quest and you can see the flaws. You can do the maps then in the editor, less flaws come out since you unweaved them all out, you'll still miss a bug or two, of course, that's when beta testers come in. If you wing it, you'll get more design flaws since you didn't think your map design out more clearer and personally for a two week contest this can be bad depending if you making a huge quest or whatnot since it'll be time consuming, and I doubt there will be room for beta testers to test it out too. :sorry: But if you manage to wing it with no bugs... well kudos to you. ;)

Again, good luck everyone... besides Goriya. He's a slow worker.

I agree with this completely. I tend to plan my dungeons now to avoid having any bugs and I believe that planning actually increases the overall design of the dungeon and makes it less bland and boring than it might otherwise be. But yet again, some people do better without planning, and it's amazing if they can make a dungeon that is well designed and bug free. :D

I really, really hate to renege on my commitments, but it occurs to me that I'm just simply not going to have time to balance making this quest with both real life things I need to do and other projects and want to work on, especially considering my real life is throwing me some major curveballs that might prevent me from having the time to work on anything in the next two-three weeks.  And that's not taking into account the lack of planning and motivation I have to begin with.  I'm just physically not going to be able to finish a quest for the contest.  Sorry. :\

Hm. Got through the first dungeon yesterday, although ZC crashed when transitioning to the DMap I set up for the boss room, so I'll need to figure out what happened there. I also realized that I'm going to be out of town in Indianapolis next weekend, so this is going end up being pretty much down to the wire. XD

...this might get trimmed down to 4 or 6 dungeons.

Hmmmm.... That's strange. Also, it's not about quantity, but quality. If your 4-6 dungeons are amazing, they would be better rated than if you had 10 okay dungeons. You'll make it, I'm sure! :D

About to start up on Level 2. My main goal is at least 4 dungeons.

Well, I finished my overworld and started work on my first dungeon... but since yesterday morning, I've spent hours on the phone with the university I'm going to trying to straighten things out, I still have more phone calls ahead of me, a coworker's grandmother is dying so I'm working two extra shifts today and tomorrow to cover here, I've got a Spanish test tomorrow that I haven't studied enough for, and I might have another test next week. Oh, and I might be getting sick. Do you ever feel like the universe is conspiring against you when you try to do something? That said I'm really going to try to finish this contest. Just need to catch up from the slow day yesterday.
