Here's how a bright and colorful forest may have looked in another NES Zelda:

EDIT: Also, this area is not final. I kind of made the palette in a hurry just so I could start using the tiles.

My Map (In Progress)
I am making some good progress. I really enjoy my tileset, it is simple, yet complex..
This is awesome. It reminds me a bit of Mother with the way the cliffs go about.
Moosh Making Maps oh how Marvelous!
Overworld of Quest (the reason dungeons 6 and 7 are not on this map is because they will be in the dark world)
Level-5: Pissy Patra Crypt
Maps may of course be subject to change in the future.
That dungeon is really good. It reminds me of the Palace of Darkness from AlttP. I haven't really tried to use big rooms in Classic. I don't really know why either.
I'm liking the palette here. Nice map too.
This is the starting area of a dungeon I am working on.
Nymph Shrine Beta
Are you afraid of this dungeon? No? You will be. :glare: You will be. :glare:
That is an interesting example of using pre-rendered backgrounds. I have top say though, it looks kind of od with the Classic tiles, but it is a cool idea for a 2D area. If you are in a cave, you can have different backgrounds for different depths of something as well.

These colors remind of me a late summer day. Good job sir.
And here is the cave interior for my Classic noise.

It's part FF3, part Cave Story, and part custom.
EDIT: Oops, I thought it'd merge my posts. Sorry for the double :x

That map, while cool, doesn't look at all like the classic tileset. The classic dungeon floor tiles really clash with the rest of the map.
Well, the Classic set never had extensive cave interiors
The set I'm using is based off of the classic set, but it will feature a few additions from some other NES games. Zelda 2, Final Fantasy 3, and Castlevania to name a few. I will probably draw custom cave floor tiles that look for like the custom blocks in terms of style. I'm also not entirely happy with the boulders, cause they were originally drawn as ice chunks, so the shading looks off to me in brown.

BUT. Does it function like Z2 or is it just tilework without true functions of Z2

Looks like someone nailed the Z2 overworld theme perfect. I cannot find anything to complain about. Good job Anthus!

Thanks. If you mean by scrolling, and semi-random encounters than no, it doesn't. However, it will still be interesting to explore, cause what you can't see are the warps that take you to areas within the world map. Obviously you have caves and some dungeon noise, but there will be other areas too. I'm feeling pretty good about this project
EDIT: Here is the progress on the forest area. The grass has been made more consistent, but some classic details still remain, and probably will for good.
