ZC 2.50.1 RC2

Windows
Mac
Linux
Changes are listed on Shardstorm. There are a few big changes besides bug fixes:
- On Windows and Linux, reset and quit were moved from F7/F8 to F9/F10. This wasn't done on Mac because the OS uses those keys and I couldn't override it.
- F6 is disabled in quests that use the "Skip Continue Screen" rule. You can still end the game through the menu.
- On Windows and Linux, you can run multiple ZC instances with the -multiple command line argument. You can enable this in the launcher by adding multiple_instances=1 in the [ZCL] section of ag.cfg.
Also notable: the issue with clicking at the end of sound effects should be fixed, but any affected sounds will need to be re-imported.

"* - Parts of segmented enemies are killed in unexpected ways"
I'm sincerely hoping that this fixes my issue with Gleeoks. :O
I'll be sure to give this build a go and report back any findings. I'm liking the changes that I'm seeing.

Is it possible I could get a link to the changes list on Shardstorm? I have no idea where to look.

Link to changelog (scroll to "build 1628 windows")
Quick observations:
- I don't seem to be swimming through land anymore. Hooray!
- In my quest, Link's sword used to get stuck floating in the air if he fell into a pit while spin attacking or holding out his sword. That doesn't happen any more and things behave properly now.
- Areas with effects to alter palettes or cycle them seem to perform better (Pessimistic Pizza is now more playable.)

If you don't mind my asking, why were F7 and F8 swapped for F9 and F10?

They were swapped because a lot of people accidentally hit one of those while trying to hit F6 and lost progress due to that.
On another note, this version doesn't run well on my laptop. Takes over 30 seconds to even boot up, Full screen has a blue screen that constantly flashes and when it's not in full screen, it's stuck with a small screen (Not smallest, but still too small). I've tried with ZC Launcher and it still doesn't work. Guess that's Windows 8's fault?
EDIT: Nevermind, I got the size to finally run, but still takes a bit longer to boot up for some odd reason.

Does the new RC still have that "Are you sure..." type dialog? That gets annoying when you try to F6 while playing

Happened to me twice playing Randomizer. Last time I played I went to F6 to recover a heart I lost for a BS reason to a Vire and next thing you know, I'm back at the Zelda Classic intro screen. An hour's worth of gameplay down the drain and a gatling gun of F-bombs followed. At the very least I know my Ladder is in 3-2.
I'd try 2.50.1 RC2, but I really don't like using beta stuff. I think I'll wait until 2.50.1 gets an official release. I remember using 2.5.4's launcher (not sure what RC of Zelda Classic that was) and ZQuest was full of bugs and even said it could screw up my save data being a beta. For reference, Zelda 2.50 final or whatever is 2.5.5 launcher or 2.50 build 24. Nice to see the F7/F8 stuff moved. Would save me a bunch of cluster F-bomb spamming episodes.

It's up to you, but 2.50 Stable and 2.50.1 RC1 also have some big bugs. 2.50 Stable has the midi bug and 2.50.1 RC1 has the Flipper bugs (name getting long and confusing enough yet?).
Anyhow, I haven't messed with this version too much yet, but I'm hoping it doesn't have any massive bugs like those versions. Will probably try to play something later on with it.
On another note, are we going to be leaving things be and just do bug updates for future versions? Or is there a chance we could get some new features anytime soon?

The F6 thing happened to me just yesterday! That is why I now have them assigned to gamepad buttons via my gamepad hotkeys program

Any 2.50.x will just be more bugfixes and other little details. There could possibly new features in ZQuest, but no gameplay changes. On another note, are we going to be leaving things be and just do bug updates for future versions? Or is there a chance we could get some new features anytime soon?
Anything more probably won't happen until a rewrite. I have actually been working toward that some, but it's slow going.
