Finished my first map of my DoR Hybrid quest, Ordon Village! Hoping to do some more story stuff next and actually make some progression towards the first dungeon!

Nice! DoR can be hard to work with... I think I might try making a mini-quest with it later today. Anyways, I added new secrets, enemy damage SFX, and put some enemies around the overworld in my Outlands Remake!

Oh yeah! I also made a warp station! There are four of them throughout the overworld, but they have to be unlocked first, like Link's Birthday DX warp stations.

Started off Level 1 in my Joke Quest.
I'm guessing you think it's going to be bad... well... you're wrong.

Here's a screen on that dungeon:

Ported in a new palette, more designed to actually handle the tiles I used without having to cheat on the color ramps and to have a slightly larger palette (GraphicsGale says 93 unique colors, but I could only count about 55) and recolored screens to fix minor coloring errors that resulted.

Old palette

New Palette

I should probably go through and change up tree colors, too, but I'm lazy, right now.

More has been accomplished since this morning! Here is what I've done!

First, here is the entrance to level 6. I rather like it, although it's not as cool as Shane's Spellbound Temple.

KXy1lU7.png

I was aiming for it to look like the library from Oracle of ages.

Here is a shot from the hallway section of level 5, which I finished and tested today.

HgJZw0b.png

It could probably use more detail, but It's fine for now.

Lastly, here is a shot of my recently-completed Jungle. I rather like the way it turned out.

Anyways, that's what I've gotten done today. Only 4 more dungeons left! :D

Yesterday, I created my own subscreen for my quest.

Here is the subscreen for the Overworld:

Here is the subscreen for the dungeons:

(Credit to Shane for helping me a bit)

I still have to create a custom map for the overworld :D
What do you guys think?

Looks nice and clean. I especially like the bit where the Triforces are called Pizza shaped bricks :D

I've made the field area outside of the town, and the whole jungle area. For now, here is a teaser of the field area!

Finally got a scripted (two tiles tall) "Abei" working :D ! He turns to face Link in each direction, Link can stand in front or behind him. He'll make the 'enemy hurt' sound and flash or flicker when you strike him (he has unlimited health), and he'll retaliate by spawning fireballs like he does on the NES. But he can be placed anywhere on screen, and you don't have to use the 'Treat as NES Dungeon Screen' Flag, so Link doesn't have to walk two tiles into the room. He has a hitbox, but he's aligned on an unwalkable combo, so Link won't get knocked back.

EDIT: It's not perfect, turns out the top sprite is on a layer Link can't jump over (the man is made up of two sprites), and certain weapons like the sword beam only affects the bottom sprite (while most weapons seem to affect both sprites)

Work on level 8 began. I'm trying to get good music for it, but the only thing I think would suit this level would be the Starlight Temple midi from IoR.

I finished level 7, which I found a cool metroid song for. This level is pretty fun to play through, I think. It also is kind of a difficulty spike. x_x

I also finished off placing secrets and populating the overworld, as well as creating a new mini "village" in the corner of the overworld map!
