I appreciate that they do a lot of balancing patches. I wonder for how long they produce new patches and DLCs xD

Also, it's now possible to press A + B to perform a smash attack. Can be turned off, of course, but I know someone who thinks this method is more reliable.

The fact that my thumb can press ABXY at the same time on the 3DS, appreciation for this is minimal.

That makes no sense to me. I'm not gonna complain but it's just a weird option, lol. Definitely off for me. Everybody should do Smash attacks the right way!

I got so used to doing Smash attacks with just the A-button and directional pad in Brawl that I don't do it any other way now.

Well I barely use grab in matches. But I don't have the gamecube controller on the Wii U. :gonk:

Man, screw this patch, they f***ed Link's jab up so bad, it can't even be used safely anymore. :(

To rub salt in the wound, Link is the only one who lost his jab "infinite" (it only works up to certain percents), as characters like Fox and Toon Link still kept theirs....Ugh.

Are you seriously telling me you don't shield grab? lol

Biggest winners of all the characters rebalanced via the patch: Bowser, Kirby, Mii Swordsman, and Zelda.

Biggest losers: Diddy Kong, Mii Brawler, and Sonic.

Well, shit. It seems that, atleast for the Wii U (probably 3DS too, but not completely sure) version of Super Smash Bros, that replays from older versions are unplayable now D:

Well, replay collection, it's been fun. Time to throw you all away in the name of PROGRESS! It's a shame, but there's not much that can be done about it.

It might be possible to use the save data with an older version of the game (as in emu***ing the game) to view them. Though I am not sure (and I didn't code the game so I may be completely wrong), but I imagine that might work (as long as you haven't done anything from the update that would change the save data, though I don't know).

(If you did that be careful and please back up save data)

Sadly it'll do that each time we get an update like this for both versions. A replay isn't saved as a video, but instead as a series of inputs (among a few other things). Since there were changes to how certain moves work (like damage and knock back) you would wind up with it not working out the same, ultimately defeating the purpose. Though it could be funny to see how the changes alter replays, ha ha.

EDIT: Heh, ninja'd.

I read that. Something else I read is that the way it stores it's replays is sorta like.. how a Midi is saved, it just tells the game how to recreate what happened, rather than.. like an MP3, which is the actual data (which saves a lot of space). Would be nice though for a video export option though.

I pre-recorded all my fights well in advance before the patch so I lost nothing!  >:3

That would be possible, they'd need to have support for installing multiple versions of the game engine beside each other and a program dedicated to main menu functions that can also choose which engine is being used so if a player chooses an older replay file it would load the appropriate engine version to play it back with. This is how it works in Starcraft 2 for replays and Worms Armageddon for gameplay backwards compatibility (So people playing with any publicly released older version can still play online with those using a newer version).
