Okay, script-less FFCs are irritating.

I'm trying to make a 1-tile-wide by 4-tiles-tall FFC that harms Link when it hits him. Link has to jump over the obstacle to avoid damage and traverse the room. It's supposed to move left and right, so I placed a changer (FFC #2) on the tile it swaps direction on, and then placed another changer far to the left (FFC #3) where it's meant to change back to it's initial direction. Instead, it moves to the first changer, and then completely stops moving. My setup is as follows:

--- FFC #1 ---

X Pos: 96

Y Pos: 16

X Speed: 1

Y Speed: 0

X Accel: 0

Y Accel: 0

Combo W: 16

Combo H: 64

Tile W: 1

Tile H: 4

A Delay: 0

Flags: None

---FFC #2 ---

X Pos: 160

Y Pos: 16

X Speed: -1

Y Speed 0

X Accel: 0

Y Accel: 0

Combo W: 16

Combo H: 64

Tile W: 1

Tile H: 4

A Delay: 0

Flags: Stationary, Is a Changer, Change combo/cset to this

FFC #3 is identical to #2, except the X Speed is set to 1 so that it resets all the movement and makes the obstacle move back and forth continuously. So, does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

Changers are always stationary. The problem is that changers also pass on their flags, so it's passing on the "Stationary" flag and freezing your damage combo in place.

Funny, on the Wiki it said that the "Stationary" flag was useful for changers, so I assumed that mean that you needed it to prevent the changer from moving away from where you needed it. Thanks for the help again!

Okay, one more question. I have them set to solid "Damage (1 Heart)" combos. However, I can just let them run over Link and they'll phase through him without dealing damage. Know why?

Um ... I'm stumped on that one. I've set up a lot of situations exactly like you're describing, and never had any problem.

Edit: Wait ... do you want the combo and cset to change to that of the changer? Unless the changers have the damage type combo assigned, it will change your damage combo to whatever they are, meaning you won't take damage anymore.

Figured it out. The Firebird tileset has the Boots given to Link by default. I just took those away, and everything worked perfectly.

What a weird tileset decision...

Anyway,

Funny, on the Wiki it said that the "Stationary" flag was useful for changers, so I assumed that mean that you needed it to prevent the changer from moving away from where you needed it. Thanks for the help again!

I'm guessing they meant that they're good for stopping FFCs for animation purposes?  Or, the wiki is very old, so things may have changed since it was created.

There is great power in knowledge.

Only thing I've used "Stationary" for was to stop a particular FFC from being affected by a changer. I'm not sure if it has any other uses.
