This is a darn fine week for screenshots.
Orithan: For some bizarre reason, I am constantly caught up in the fact that the corners of those land-meets-water tiles have a bit of the same color in the corner where the water should be. The same applies to cliffs that meet the water, but have land in the corner of the tile instead of water. I know that it's just a feature of the tileset, but to me, it feels like the tileset is being lazy. Then again, I've used the EZGBA set before and the first thing I did was make a transparent version of all of the corners so I could plop them down on a more appropriately colored combo on a layer. I have clearly completely defied the objective of the "EZ" in EZGBA.
This always gets to me too, which is weird because I love the GBC set and never noticed it in the actual games. I guess I can't complain too much since I've never even finished a damn quest.
Orithan: Yeah, aside from the previous comment, I like this screen a lot. Very good use of the tileset. I've never particularly liked those water trees, but that's not really your fault either.
Joelmacool: I actually really like this. I don't know how you managed to be more minimalistic than the classic set, but you did, and it's cool. Gives off a very light-hearted, fun vibe.
klop422: This is amazing, though I'm definitely getting more mountain vibes than cave vibes. Maybe that's just because I'm used to seeing those tiles used as mountains.
Demonlink: I don't know if you were going for an authentic GBC vibe, but you pulled it off. It definitely feels like something you'd walk into in one of the Oracle games, even with the different subscreen.
All great shots this week. I'm gonna have to give my vote to klop422 though; totally digging the unconventional vibes.
edit: remind me to stop saying "vibe" so much
