Basically, I need a sword that, after you slash, it takes you underground. I'm thinking this might be possible with a small item script and if I just turn the certain combos into water and it forces you to dive?

How are you imagining this underground type place to look?
Is it going to take you to a completely new screen where Link is underground, like a new cave or something, or is going to turn Link's sprites into something that looks like he is underground?

The latter would be done via Link Tile Modifiers

And how are you imagining him to be able to get back?

Just to change Link's sprite, sorta, but I want the effect of him diving, where he can't use anything or anything for a few seconds.

So you want him to slash, show a diving underground animation, not be able to use any items for a few seconds, then jump back out of the ground?
Easy peasy. Although the animations would require somewhat more effort, and if you wanted him to only be able to do it on certain terrains it could become akward.
