So I recently decided to switch from Qwerty and start learning Dvorak.
Has anyone else gave learning another keyboard a shot? Discuss your thoughts/experiences.

I had to use Azerty when a friend from France came over with his laptop.
I kept linking people to sites like zzz.sourceforge.net or zzz.imdb.com or zzz.doomzorld.com.

I switched over to dvorak a while ago. I bought the stickers you can put on your keys that show both in different colors. It took me like, a month or two, before I was fully settled in.
Nowadays I keep the keyboard normal so I can type in qwerty if I have to. Otherwise I just touch-type dvorak.
Once my dvorak speed got up to par, I definitely felt that it was much easier to type overall.

I enjoy QWERTY because I've been using it since I was 8. Changing now, almost 20 years later, would probably only make it more aggravating to type. As it is, I type at 80 WPS on a good day (when my hands don't freeze up (probably some form of premature arthritis)), so I feel as though I'm efficient enough.

I've used Qwerty my whole life so switching now would feel weird. I don't think any one keyboard layout is better or worse. If you find a certain layout you like, or one that works for you that's all that matters.

Yeah, I don't know how worth it is for the average person to switch layouts. But I do think qwerty is pretty bad and shouldn't be taught in school anymore. But that will never happen because it's the standard and not many ppl care.
