Now, we get quite a few requests for custom bosses in this forum and as of late it's started to become a topic that I'm finding very irritating.
Don't get me wrong; requesting custom bosses is fine, it's to do with the way people go about doing it.

Before you request anything, please keep in mind that the people who are writing scripts for you are doing it for no personal gain, other than the satisfaction that they're helping you out. No-one's being paid, and at a guess I'd say there are few opportunities where people even get help back with their own quests because they wrote scripts for others.
Most of the time, that's fine. I've written many scripts for other people personally knowing I won't get anything in return, and there are others around who have too.

Custom bosses, however (and other related, complicated scripts) are a bit of an issue in this regard.

Quite often, custom bosses are very convulted, quest specific scripts which are a lot more difficult to write than many other scripts.
This in itself is enough to render most custom boss requests un-answered, but you can help the scripter to help you by going about requesting your custom boss in the right way.

If you write 'cAn u wRite mE t3H c00l cusTom b0ss sCrIpT pLz?', you're very unlikely to get any help at all.
Try to help the person who's helping you a little. Think about how you want your custom boss to work, and write out a little more about the boss, how much damage you want it deal, how you want it to move, what graphics it's going to use etc. before just saying 'Can you write me X boss from Y official Zelda game, please thanks'.

Let's look at some examples (these aren't real examples for the sake of not naming any names) of requests for custom bosses.
I'll show you an example of a bad request, and then how you could make it better.
Now, let's assume I'm ZCNewbie123, and I really liked the Gleeok from Oracle of Seasons. It's quite a safe assumption for me to make that the person who might write me the script has played Oracle of Season, so they've probably seen the boss before and know how it plays.
But that doesn't mean I should make this request:
QUOTE(ZCNewbie123)
Hi!
I thought the Gleeok from OoS was really cool, can someone script it for my quest please?
Thanks!

In this case, it'll probably feel to ZCNewbie123 that he's made a perfectly reasonably request. He's been polite and used proper spelling and grammar, and the scripter probably knows how the Gleeok works. I'm afraid that's the wrong assumption to make.

Here's how it would be better to request that boss:
QUOTE(ZCNewbie123)
Hi!
I thought the Gleeok from OoS was really cool, and I'd really like it in my quest.

I'm using these graphics for the boss: http://www.spriters-...zoos/sheet/8956, and I've already ripped them into my quest.
I want my Gleeok to have two phases of attack.
In the first phase, he'll have two heads coming from the body with the wings, and they'll be vulnerable to the sword. They should shoot out fire which deals two hearts of damage to Link, and each head should take 6 hits from the sword before coming off. When a head comes off, I want it to fly round the bottom of the room and shoot fireballs at Link.
After Link kills both heads, I want the Gleeok to use the bony tiles and chase Link round the room.
If it's not going to be too hard to script (I don't know because I don't script myself), maybe this one could jump up and fall on the floor, which would paralyze Link if he's not jumping at that point?
This one should take 10 hits, but it would only deal 1 heart of damage to Link if it touches him.

Thanks very much!

I think it's pretty obvious how the two requests differ.
I'm not saying that you'll definately get people to write scripts for you if you request them like this, it's just a lot more likely that people will want to help you.

It definately turns me away straight off when I see a request like the first one.

I must say that normal enemies fall under a similar category and you should make the same considerations when requesting normal enemies.

There is one additional consideration for ordinary enemies: Normal enemies are HARDER to make than bosses because there are NO ENEMY SCRIPTS.
