I have bemoaned the fact that I have difficulties making walls turn and have corners. Thus a lot of blockiness.

So. Today, I decorated 90% of my Hyrule Field, created a small cave system under Hyrule Field, created a custom enemy, and placed all heart pieces for the area.

Left to do:
Decorate caves.
Place shorcuts.
Design a few more buildings in Lon Lon Ranch (level 1).
Place enemies.
Place NPCs.
Create a couple shops.
Insert prewritten lore.
Test entire field for balance.

Move on from Hyrule Field to Skull Woods.

Yesterday I did a lot of mad scientist work in ZC. I was partly refreshing my memory about some more obscure mechanics and partly testing out new stuff. But I felt like that went pretty well. I definitely have some interesting ideas.

Today I learned that I can copy/paste screens and not have to continuously change the palette to the one chosen for that particular map.
 

Also, despite working, I managed to create the interior of two shops and started detailing out my first main dungeon area.

Finished the swamp area in my quest. Also added the alternative activation for the wand. Now moving onto building the starting town and NPC interaction scripts.

I interconnected everything in Hyrule Field with warps. The only left to do in Hyrule Field is to create the rest of the Lon Lon Ranch interior, and sprinkle about some secrets/lore.

Today (well, today and yesterday) I threw together a quick demo of my new OoT remake side-project.

Finished 98% of Lon Lon Ranch. Just have to add interior decorations to a few rooms and test everything to make sure it's working properly. Also need to add in a couple FFCs with the NPC script to reveal the lore of Byrna.

After that, the Hyrule Field area will be complete, bar some fixes I may have to make here and there.


I have to stop for now though. Work in 6 hours and I prefer to get sleep.

Added in the Lost Woods and Sacred Forest Meadow, released a second demo containing the major bugfixes (there's still a minor tile warp error for Link's house; but since you start IN the house and exit into the Kokiri Forest, most people will never even notice it, and it is fixed for future releases) and began work on Hyrule Field. On pace to release a longer demo up until Level 2 within the week, probably.

 

Also, I learned that the arrows which kill Ganon are based on damage and not item level, so I was able to have all the arrows without scripting (and I feel really dumb for not knowing that; although, I've never made a quest with Ganon that didn't use the default silver and golden arrows, so I guess I can excuse my ignorance). Now all I need is an inventory array script (for switching between child and adult Link), a whistle script for quick travelling to dungeons before you beat them, and a script to give you a ring item only in hot rooms and take it away if the room isn't hot, and I will be 100% finished with the scripting, and will only have to worry about mapmaking.

Tested the end of Lon Lon Ranch to make sure the secrets triggered correctly.

And put together a custom boss. He's nothing spectacular. Just an enemy editor boss. But he's a boss. And I'll probably edit him more after moving forward with creating other areas. Maybe with a better understanding of creating enemies.

Finished up the map for Hyrule Castle, realized I kinda wrote myself into a corner with Zelda since I don't have room in the subscreen to get an item like the letter from her. So, as of right now (and it will be fixed just as soon as I figure out how), she's a completely skippable exposition dump.

Finished adding my first global and item script to my quest.

Still trying to figure out where everything is going to be in Hyrule. 

I have decided that my quest will be a quick 5 dungeon quest, this will be my first quest ever so I don't want to overwhelm myself by making a huge quest.

Still trying to think up a story too.
