i like joel's the most. idk why. interesting tileset/palette i think, but also i just like the layout and the setting. river-in-a-canyon type screens aren't done very often and it just projects this sort of... depth/physicality to it that i don't see very often. like i think a lot of ZC screens are visualized as flat plains, as maps with some details thrown in, and joel's looks the most like it could have been conceptualized as a full 3D environment then transcribed into ZC. something about ZC feels inherently claustrophobic usually, but joel's doesn't. i know it probably should, since it takes place in a narrow canyon, but it suggests a whole lot more going on outside of it. and i'm not saying the others don't! i'm just saying to me, joel's gives me that feeling the most strongly
