Randomly saw this in a discussion and I know it's like 6 years later, but all this water does indeed look really nice. For the lava, I think maybe it would help to have a third set where you lower each of the three colors in the lava by one shade of the cset? That is, darkest red becomes black, medium red becomes dark red, and the light tan (sand) color becomes the red. I do like the patterns in the lava. It might also be interesting to see what a blue version of the lava looks like since I think it could also work as a type of water.

I love the water tiles, but the lava leaves a little to be desired. I don't know what it is about it. Maybe it's too busy, or maybe it's the colors? I dunno. It's hard to find/ make good lava for true NES sets, but I actually think FF3s is the nicest, even though it is just red water, it has a really nice, but extremely long animation. One other minor complaint is that there isn't a page with the animations already in order. This isn't a huge deal, but some people might not want to mess with setting them up. All in all, these are some top notch NES original graphics. I will probably use the water, but do something else with the lava.
