I don't really have any complaints I can think of, so good job on yet another successful randomiser. I'm definitely looking forward to playing this again whenever expansions come out. Easy 5/5 from me.

Randomizer Returns is a return to classic Zelda, but randomized. Well, more than previous randomizers.

Description
A randomizer shuffles around parts of a game while leaving the rest intact, resulting in a new and familiar experience simultaneously. I've already made several of these, this one is a little different.
For the most part, gameplay is more inspired by the Original Zelda 1. Things like key items sold in shops (sometimes at high prices), Old Men offering an item only if you have the hearts, and a simple 9 dungeon single overworld. There are a few improvements over the old formula, like diagonal movement, sword slashing, better candles, arrow ammo, and 2 items per dungeon.
This time, you can randomize more than items. You can change the world too. Watch as shopkeepers rip you off, you need to show a new tunic to be allowed into Level 9, and find the Magic Key requires 12 hearts to pick up.
Oh, and you can end up playing dungeons from 21 different quest sets, grouped in 3 main categories: Classic, BS, and Outlands. You can even have them mix and match, with interesting results.
So, choose how you want to play, save Zelda, and then try again. Things are never the same. Well, unless you enter a seed or choose to play one of the 21 quests normally.
The 1.1 expansion is OUT! Not only are there more overworlds and dungeons, there are also more scripted items that may show up and multiple gameplay improvements.
1.11 fixes a few bugs, and also adds a difficulty feature for those who want exploring easier or closer to Zelda 1 style.
1.2 adds options to have random hints and dungeon music.
1.3 adds the ability to mark your Ex3 map with A and B and create a seed made up of 4 letter words for easier sharing.
1.4 more seed button shortcuts, game time starts at 0:00 after randomizer finishes. Plays fine in 2.53.

Ganon kidnaps Zelda. Zelda scattered the Triforce of Wisdom. For some reason you need the Triforce of Wisdom to go into the lair Ganon is hiding in. Find the Silver Arrow (or some variation) to slay the King of Evil, rescue Zelda, and Save Hyrule. Or Outlands, whichever happens to show up.
Otherwise....

Tips & Cheats
Although there are 8 hint guys hidden in the overworld that give good general tips, knowing a few things ahead of time will help.
Dungeons have 2 items each. This means many familiar levels now have an additional item hidden inside.
Only single blocks can be pushed in a dungeon room. Pay attention to rooms with seemingly random lone blocks mixed into larger structures.
If you get Spin Attack, you can poke walls in the overworld to find bombable spots easier.
Look everywhere. I mean everywhere.
The Ex Buttons are used in this quest. Especially Ex3 and Ex4 as a nice checklist features.
Likewise, the Map Button (usually Space Bar by default) gets some use in the main menus. It even counts as a "select" button of sorts.
Okay, there is a big secret in the form of additional randomizer features. You may get a clue from a random joke, but to speed things up, there is a certain point where holding UP and MAP when confirming with A will lead you there.

This was a really nice randomiser to play through, definitely good for those that don't want to go through 45+ dungeons like in previous randomisers. The idea of randomising not just items, but dungeons and caves and all that is really cool and something that definitely improves gameplay and experience. The overworld looks really nice actually. I personally don't like Koten, but you made the tileset look really nice with the palettes for the overworld and dungeons (though I do agree with Lunaria on the beach area), and it actually made me tolerate the tileset for once. The extra features you've added (slash, diagonal movement, fast scrolling) definitely make the quest better to play too. I'm also not sure if there is secret content in this quest, but I definitely couldn't find anything, even after checking every single screen in the overworld

At last, the randomizer that ZC deserves! This quest is a way more interesting experience than the previous randomizers, and it fixes all my complains with the previous versions!
A Classic Edition with classic graphics and the option to disable modern conveniences (no diagonal movement, slash, no broken items..) would be pretty welcome for updates and for people that want a more retro and true experience.
Great work, I can't wait for expansions and features for this new style of randomizer!

Edit: Staff contacted me an basically told me that I'd have to bump up my rating for all quests I have ever reviewed by one star. Note that this does not reflect my own opinion on the matter, or the quest, but just that it was something I was made required to do.

Probably the best randomizer avalible for ZC so far, in my honest opinion. Replay value is really high in this one since it's not insanely long, and there are a lot of randomized aspects that will make for a new experience every run. Other than that you have a nice mix of Zelda 1 style gameplay with more modern conveniences (though no space map in dungeons). I enjoyed my two playthroughs so far and I think I have gotten a good enough grasp of the quest structure to say that I like it.
That being said, the quest does have some flaws: The full-sized overworld does not work in the quest's favour. I completely understand why the Zelda 1 overworld was used, since that's where the expectation is. But I think a smaller overworld map around the size of a single BS map would be better size. Mainly since there is a secret on every single screen, the quest is completely flooded with useless secrets. Now, in one way it's nice to know that there is always one secret per screen, that way you can know for sure if you can cross a screen off the list or not. On the otherhand, this means finding what you need (dungeons) becomes a bit of a pain, especially if you find late-game dungeons early, because when you can do them later on you just don't remember where they are. I guess that's a minor nitpick, but it's certainly an area that could looked over on for future projects, or an alternate map for this very same quest? (hrm)
Another complaint I have is the visuals. Firstly, I will say that the visuals work way better in-game than what it seemed like from the screenshots, so that was nice. But I'm not entirely sold on it to be honest. It's mostly the overworld palettes that bother me, I guess. Like, the sand on the beach looks way too dark and muddy (but the mountains there look good), while the green grass looks... off. I think my problem with the grass is that it's either too bright or not bright enough.
But yeah, I'll play more of this in the future, great randomizer, can't wait for the updates!

I may have found a bug, either with ZC or with this quest.

I have tried several times, with various amounts of rupees. I am unable to grab this bomb upgrade. I have grabbed one previously, bumping me up to 20 total. The only other upgrade I got before this one was the wallet upgrade. And I was still able to grab my first arrow upgrade after encountering this.

I am playing the Classic First Quest -Randomizer Returns version and can not find Level 3.
Levels 1, 2 and 4 are done and I am loaded with weapons and toys but for the life on me cannot find Level 3!
