This is a quest to restore color and life to your world. You are free to explore most of the world right away. You will find items hidden in various smaller shrines throughout the World of Color, and the Greylands, and more helpful abilities will be located in the game's six major dungeons. There is a small twist to this however. Instead of just finding items, and taking them with you, you will be given an ability that you can only use in the given dungeon, until you clear it! Once the dungeon has been cleared, you will gain the ability for good, and can explore deeper into the game. Dungeons will tell you what items, and skills you will need, but most of the dungeons can be done in any order, to an extent. Once you remember where things are, you may be able to beat the game even faster.
This medium sized quest features one full overworld, a second, smaller overworld, seven main dungeons, including the final dungeon, and 8 smaller mini-dungeons, or shrines.
The Greylands:
Your former home world of Hyrule. A mysterious race of color sapping beings have come from another dimension, and using their own world's resources, they are able to siphon the color, and life out of your world. Anyone who has not escaped in time, will slowly lose their color, and eventually they will cease to be as they are frozen in a colorless, motionless world for all eternity. There is one stronghold where people remain, at the nation's center in the walls of Hyrule Castle. They wait for "The Hero who has not lost his color" hoping that a prophetic hero will appear. They will give this hero a sword that has been used for centuries to fight off the toughest evils this world, and the next have ever seen.
The World of Color:
This is a strange and wondrous place that you find yourself in after waking up in a cave. At first, this place seems pretty nice. But there is something not quite right. There are people here, from your world, but... their color is gone. Your color is gone! The indigenous people here seem pretty welcoming, telling you that their world is intended to persist forever, in peace, thanks to the deeds of Rainbow Corp.
Rainbow Corp.:
A powerful, and omnipresent force in the world of color. It's motives are unclear, but it claims it wishes to keep the world in a state of peace forever. Rainbow Corp. was somehow able to manufacture a perfect world of colors, and now anyone there can live happily forever. But what about these "colorless" that are coming in? Are they trouble?
The Hero:
Resolving to free his world from the color sapping forces at bay in this new world, the hero goes around and tries to free the six Color Sprites who are being exploited by Rainbow Corp. This weakens their hold on the Greylands, and allows the hero to gain some of his color back. As his quest goes on, he may even be able to safely traverse his home world once again, and help restore it. There are a lot of helpful tools there that haven't been invented yet in the World of Color, after all.
