Report Hyrule Redemption
Overview
Information
A quest by NewJourneysFire and Demonlink inspired by ALTTP and ALBW. This quest utilizes a Rent-to-Own Trade Shop System similar to the rental shop featured in ALBW. Ganon has taken over Hyrule. Everybody is hiding from Ganon's Darkness, a curse that blankets Hyrule that causes quick age and certain death. The survivors have built a new town outside of the Temple of Time to protect the Master Sword, forming a resistance to defend against Ganon's evil forces and now they wait for a hero.

About this Quest:
Rent-to-Own Shop System:
Much like ALBW, this game features a rental system. However, this rental system is slightly different from the game that it is based off. For starters, the shop doesn't offer every item in the game, but just four basic items which I believe are Link's most standard items in the series. From the beginning of the game, you get to choose to choose between the Boomerang, the Bombs, the Bow, or the Hookshot. You can rent an item for 200 rupees, and can only carry one of these items at a time to explore the world of Hyrule. If you decide to rent the Hookshot, but then change your mind and want to carry the Boomerang instead, you can trade for another item. Eventually, as you progress through the game, you'll be able to carry two items at once, then three items at once. This will continue until you will eventually have all 4 items. At this point you'll no longer be able to use this shop because you'll be considered the owner of all 4 items.
You can think of this system like Pokemon, where you get to choose one of 3 Pokemon, but instead of keeping your starter Pokemon, you can return it for another one. Eventually as you progress through the game, you'll eventually have all the starter Pokemon. This shop system works a lot like that!
The Over-world:
The over-world is designed with the game's four standard items deep in mind. In other words, your choice in item could drastically change how you explore this world and what order you will take your dungeon. For example, if you decide to explore Hyrule using the bombs, you will eventually reach a different level than you would if you chose to explore the world using the boomerang. This quest started off as a bit of a tribute to Relic of the Past, and as such, you'll find that the overworld layout is quite similar. The map is a 16x8 overworld map, split into 5 different sections. In the center we have the main field which is 6x8 and the exact same size as the field in RotP. Also, just like RotP, it contains 4 regions which are 5x4 in size in the 4 outer corners of the 16x8 map. One thing about this overworld is not only the pervasive darkness that covers the land, but also it's consistent use of water. There are much more rivers and streams in this overworld than you can possibly imagine, even the fiery mountainous regions are covered much more in hot springs than it is in lava. You'll find a lot of water everywhere in this overworld and even in the game's dungeons. I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to call every dungeon in the game the water temple. This holds more story value than gameplay value because it becomes obvious that Ganon's darkness is somehow Link to Hyrule's water supply. Since the water is very poisonous, you cannot swim in it, and it contains no zoras which are also unable to live in these polluted waters.
This game has 4 regions other than the main field which try to combine common elements: The forest will be dark and have haunted themes; The mountains will be rocky but have fire themes; the ice mountains will include water themes (more than average); and the desert will include a crystal theme to it (similar to Skyward Sword).
The overworld is also designed with ALTTP in mind, which is why I decided to use the ALTTP mountain set included in Demonlink's Hybrid tileset. I wanted to give this quest a sense of ALTTP, but provide something entirely new, because we don't need another ambitious ALTTP remake. I am hoping this quest will give fans exactly something ALBW did not, which is a brand new unique world to explore using a trade system that is fully engaged by the overworld itself. I am hoping that you will like this as much as I do, because designing this overworld is really a blast!
Ganon's Darkness:
A cloudy mist of darkness that pervasively cloaks the entire over-world of Hyrule that insured Ganon's victory over Hyrule. It is exceptionally harmful to Hylians by increasing the aging process and causing a quick death. Ganon's forces seem to be immune to the darkness. It is said that the Master Sword will protect people from the darkness, therefore people have settled outside of the Temple of Time hiding from Ganon's Darkness. It is said that a Hero will eventually be able pull the Master Sword out of it's pedestal and will find himself immune to the darkness as well. The Hero will also drive back the darkness covering all of Hyrule and eventually rid all of Hyrule of the darkness.
Link will find himself immune to the darkness when he is holding the Master Sword, therefore it will hold no actual gameplay value to the quest other than the fact that NPCs will not go near it. Similar to Twilight Princess, Link will be able to cleanse the Darkness from the world by beating the games Temples. Once all of the games 4 temples are beat, the world will be clean from the darkness and Link will be able to enter Hyrule Castle and confront Ganon to take back Hyrule.
