A Step Forward, a Look Back

Description:
The music that accompanies the credit roll in many video games is a simple, nostalgic tune with an air of music box magic. Its soft tone is intended to soothe the player following the intensity of the game's climax. "A Step Forward, A Look Back" is a piano-only piece which accomplishes everything a credit roll piece needs to: it's simple, it's contemplative, and it's lullaby-like. Of course, there's some epic flavor within, too. ;) The song took just two days to compose and notate, but in that time I worked hard to make the notes as smooth as possible. I do hope you enjoy the result. :)

The loop times listed above are entirely optional. In fact, I don't picture this as a repeating piece, but knowing how varied the needs of questmakers are these days, I figured some out anyway. Finally, I have piano sheet music for this song available as a PDF; just PM me if you want it. I didn't want to bog down your download by including it in the file package here. ;)

Once again, enjoy! :D

Credits:
Kenta Nagata, Hajime Wakai, Toru Minegishi or Koji Kondo — I realized after I wrote the song that the chord progression in the first eight measures is identical to that of the Outset Island music from The Wind Waker. My ear obviously liked the progression if I formed it subconsciously, so I have to give the composer props. Also, one particular transition measure was inspired by the Ordon Village theme in Twilight Princess.

Sounds very peaceful and has a good progression. In a quest I would probably use it after solving an dramatic event, or at the end of a day during a sunset.

I can easily see this as resolution theme in a movie. But, as always, if you go the extra mile and make use of orchestral instruments, then this would be a pretty darn-near perfect song.

Sounds like a mix of the credits from LTTP and TP.
Bravo!

I can hear AlttP actually
This is... so soothing. I think I'll leave it on a loop during the night. I think it'd be a GREAT tune to fall asleep to, and an absoloutley AMAZING melody to wake up to.
Thanks again Ed, for another wonderful piece of art.
