Combat Chamber *5*

Description:
It's the same Combat Chamber you've known for the past months of being at this website, but it's completely different from what you remember...

Instead of zipping all five songs and sending an update, I decided to submit this fifth song (completed on July 16) as a separate entity so people can rate it for itself and not for the other songs that it goes with.

I have to agree with everybody else; the level of perfection at which you sculpted this masterpiece is truly admirable. There is a lot to say about this song that probably wouldn't fit in one comment, but here's a crude list; excellent percussion, great french horn intro, harp volumes accommodate the tritone chord implications perfectly, the bass is used with caution so as to prevent an overwhelmingly campy sound...

This is great stuff.

It's really varied, but thankfully, all sections seemed to have been cared and loved for equally. It's epically epic, contemplatively contemplative, and suspensefully suspenseful. Excellent instrument use, too.

This is probably the only alternate version of Combat Chamber that I think is as good or better than the original. They both have their high points, so I consider them 'parallel themes' (see CC pack review). My only gripe is it can't seem to decide what time signature to use; It shifts between an action theme a much slower, dramatic theme, and even a bit of a frantic drumline for a second. It's real confusing... hard to put my finger on it. In ZQ we could probably get around this by using two different loops (but I hope we can get some kind of MIDI scripting, for 'smart music' that will put looping in a queue)... But I just don't know how I'd use it properly. Perhaps a very time-strict cutscene with timed warps.

Also, I think the cymbals sound a bit overused during one part... maybe it's just how my sound makes out the instrument to use.

Five stars anyway, because it's awesome. That's all I can say about it.
