1. About Zelda Classic and Reclamation
---------------------------------------

Zelda Classic (ZC) is a clone of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda, created
in 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). At its most basic level,
ZC allows players to play an almost exact copy of both "quests" of The Legend
of Zelda. However, an editor called ZQuest can be used to create entirely new
Zelda quests, games based on the Zelda format of a traversable overworld with
underground dungeons. ZQuest offers 16-bit graphics support and, in its newer
versions, a wide variety of enemies, items, and floor objects.

ZC was created by Phantom Menace, and further developed by Dark Nation
and the current ZC development team.

Reclamation is a quest created with Zelda Classic v2.10.2. It features 16-bit,
Game Boy Color quality graphics by using the Pure tileset (found at
www.purezc.com.) It was created off and on during late 2004 and all of 2005,
suspended in 2006, picked up again in February 2007, and finished in
August 2007.

The story of Reclamation begins as Link defeats Ganon (the circumstances
behind this fight are unknown). When Link lands the final blow on Ganon, he
suddenly blacks out, and falls into a strange land...

---------------------------------------
2. Normal or Easy Mode?
---------------------------------------

Play Normal mode ("Reclamation.qst") if you've finished lots of Zelda Classic
quests already, or you've played many of Nintendo's recent Zelda games and
you thought they were too easy. For those of you familiar with many ZC quests,
the difficulty of this quest should compare to Mr. Z's early quests, like
Link's Birthday DX.

Play Easy mode ("Reclamation_EZ_Mode.qst") if you haven't played a Zelda game
in a while, or if you want a more relaxing game.

Here are the ONLY differences between Normal and Easy mode:

--Easy mode has fewer enemies per screen, easier enemy types, and
  easier bosses than Normal mode.
--The NPCs in Easy mode are a little more helpful.

The puzzles, storyline, and overall content are the same for both modes.

---------------------------------------
3. Installation
---------------------------------------

Windows:

Extract each file in this archive to a folder on your hard drive. Then run
the "zlaunch-w" application. Click the ZC Options tab, and click "Launch ZC".

Special Vista note! If you are running Windows Vista, right click on the
application and select "Run as Administrator". Otherwise, the game
will be unplayable!

Linux:

Extract each file in this archive to a folder on your hard drive. Next,
download the "lib-allegro42" package. Finally, run the "zelda-l" application.

---------------------------------------
4. Zelda Classic Settings
---------------------------------------

At any time during play, press the Escape key to pause the game and bring up
the menu bar for Zelda Classic. From this bar, you can change the button
configuration (explained in the next section), video display, sound
production, and other features. See www.zeldaclassic.com for more details.

---------------------------------------
5. How To Play
---------------------------------------

To start a new game, select an empty save file, press Start, type in a
name, and press Start again. Then press A twice, select "Reclamation.qst" or
"Reclamation_EZ_Mode.qst" (see Section 2), and click OK.
Finally, press Start a third time.

To load a previously saved game, simply select the save file and press Start.

--The arrow keys controls your movement.
--The A button swings your sword, once you've found it.
--The B button uses the currently selected item.
--The L and R buttons scroll through items; the currently selected item
appears in the B window at the top of the screen.

The Start button brings up a pause menu that allows you to switch your
currently selected item. It also shows all of the items that you possess
and a few other pieces of information pertinent to your location.

The Select button is not used in this quest.

When you're finished with your game, hit Escape, then select Quit from the
File menu. The Continue, Save, Retry menu will appear. (This menu also
appears when you lose all of your hearts and receive a Game Over.) Selecting
Continue lets you continue your quest from a preset continue point, Save
saves all progress and takes you to the game select menu, and Retry takes you
to the game select menu without saving.

---------------------------------------
6. Tips for New Zelda Players
---------------------------------------

--Your primary goal is to visit the eight dungeons of Pyrenia and recover
a piece of the Triforce of Power in each.

--Find items often, and use them everywhere! Items let you access new areas,
recover Pieces of Heart, and kill enemies easier.

--The Ocarina can be used on the overworld to travel quickly between
completed dungeons.

--If you're low on hearts, quitting the game and selecting Continue
will heal you completely, but place you at the beginning of a dungeon
or at a centralized point in the overworld.

--There are three different swords in this quest, and a different tunic
as well. Without these special items, the final portions of the quest will
become very difficult, so search everywhere for them. If you've reached Level
4 without finding the White Sword, or you've reached Level 9 without finding
the Magic Sword, you might want to collect them before continuing...

---------------------------------------
7. Tips for Experienced Zelda Players
---------------------------------------

--If you place a second bomb while a Dodongo is eating the first one, it
will explode and stun it. You can then slash it with your sword to gain
  4 bombs.

--If a Dodongo eats a super bomb, it will die and drop a super bomb.

--You can break the shields of Darknuts (armored knights) with the Megaton
  Hammer.
