You Only Live Once

2.5 Build: RC1

Quest Description: So I started this quest as a kind of first step into writing scripts. After lots of work and stuff, my second masterpiece is finally here. This miniquest contains 4 levels of scripted fun. A word of warning, although short, this quest is quite challenging (almost as hard as the first couple dungeons of Armageddon Quest Forever IMO).

Story: Once upon a time, Ganon and his minions were up to no good when suddenly, Ganon made a silly error (he misspelled his own name). The grammar Nazi gods were displeased and locked him away in the Evil Jar. Ganon discovered that the only way to escape the Evil Jar was to perform a difficult maneuver called "triforcing". Unable to escape the jar on his own, Ganon began causing trouble in the far off land of Geeztodificultia to catch the attention of Link, the legendary hero of threeforce. tl;dr, collect the McGuffins.

Tips and Cheats: For cheats, don't play normal or hard mode

Credits: VGMusic, Schwa (for the platform script), Joe123 (for circular motion), PureZC's scripting subcommunity for putting up with my noobishness.

I sure love me some tree dungeons.

Just to give you an idea what you're up against.

I just love fireballs.

Messing with Phanto. Although necessary, this is a very bad idea.

The final boss. Lol I just spoiled it it's Ganon surprise so I guess now you don't have to play the quest.

Edit: Oh darn I posted this in quest project discussion by mistake. xP

Edit 2: I made a userbar for this quest that you can put in your no doubt already massive collection of userbars. icon_razz.gif

I did some progress in level 1. I love this! The ideas are great and the use of 2.5 is wonderful. The platform script feels good in a classic tileset quest! Though, I hate the dificulty. The save system is not a great choice for a quest wich is so dificult. After every little progress in the dungeon I was running to the save point as fast as possible. But then the enemies come and kill me without a reason icon_wink.gif
I like the humor and the quest is addicting too! But the beginning must be easier.

Thanks, guys. If you find yourself really struggling with the quest, I may release an easier version later, so don't fret.

And as dumb as it may sound, I've forgotten the quest password already. If anyone knows how to crack quest passwords, I'd be much appreciative.

I made it past level 1 somehow. icon_xd.gif I'm enjoying the challenge. It isn't frustrating me at all. Actually, I'm laughing at my deaths more than anything. And it was so satisfying to beat that level 1 boss.

Level 2's fun so far as well, but I get the different looking key for the bow and that's about as far as I can manage. icon_xd.gif But I won't give up.

Also, what're the difference between easy, normal and hard?

Whew, you're almost past what I consider the hardest part. Level 2's boss is a bit of a joke when you get the pattern down and level 3 has more than enough save points to negate most of the difficulty. The difference between the difficulties is that easy gives you the level 3 cheat to equip yourself as you see fit, normal starts you with 4 bars of magic and hard only starts you with 1 bar of magic (which is a lot harder than it sounds).

Oh...After getting my first magic container, I can see what you mean. O_o (I've been on hard mode. icon_xd.gif)

Just finished level 2. Getting the bow wasn't as bad as I thought, and what followed wasn't too bad either. It was getting used to the pattern that was difficult imo.

Speaking of getting used to...Freaking level 3. icon_xd.gif I'm slowly getting better at navigating with the balloons, and have a few little tricks to keep me from dying too fast. :3

The two big questions! How to choose easy (Just wan't to know. I will play it in normal of course icon_wink.gif)? Why are there swords under the bushes? And also, I'm playing it in RC1 without problems so far. I think you are unable to use the sword for 2-3 seconds some times.

@Dan: First of all, you deserve an award for beating the first boss on hard mode. Unless you door camped of course. Second, how could I forget the balloon course! That took forever to put together. It would have been much easier if I wasn't too lazy to set up collision detection. icon_razz.gif Much like the Phantos, you get better at it with time. It's in my opinion, the last super difficult spot in the quest. After that, it's just challenging to mildly irritating.

@Avataro: There's an invisible walkway in the opening area. I only put in easy mode as a sort of prize for those who would go looking for it. I guess the secret's out now! icon_razz.gif The swords under bushes are a sword powerup. There's three in the game, one of which there's only one in existence. You can keep them as long as you want, provided your magic never drops below one bar at which point you're back to using the normal sword.

Also, I got the password back by use of the quest key that I didn't know I had. icon_razz.gif

Glad to hear you're liking it so far! The demo meter is, if memory serves me right, the number of times you've loaded from a save point. Essentially, every time you load the game, it increases by 1.
