Only Zelda Classic quest makers don't make the quests too hard for general players stray sheep.  But in almost every other fan-made game, there are plenty of people making challenging material for others all the time - Geometry Dash, Bloons Tower Defense 6, Mario Maker just to name a few.  I think its because Zelda made the modern Zelda game too easy and only the crowd that likes easy games went for it.

I'll admit some players give bad ratings for challenging quests - there's no doubt about that.  But who cares?  People can rate quests badly until the cows come home but it'll make zero difference in the end.  Ratings only matter if the person rating the work is the one paying for it.  I'll tell you this - even if everyone in the whole fanbase rated my LoH and LoH:IU zero stars it would make zero difference and they would still be exactly as they are right now.

James24, I feel sure you no longer worry about rating or comments, so you will do as you hope.

I don't know and haven't interest almost about Geometry Dash, Bloons Tower Defense 6, Mario Maker, so I don't say anything about them.

Finally I don't think I need to say more in this topic.

The thing is Stray Sheep that the way I think is not just confined to me.  I can 100% assure you that EVERY quest maker thinks like I do - but no one will admit it in public because its highly unpopular.  Only I have the balls to say what I truly believe deep down in public.  This is called politics and it has common threads wherever you go.

Let me give you one final thought to put everything into perspective.  When you go for a job interview, you commit resources because something worthwhile is at stake.  When you go out on a hot date, you commit resources because something worthwhile is at stake.  When you plead not guilty in front of a judge, you commit resources because something worthwhile is at stake.  Now lets compare these to making a Zelda quest.  You commit resources but is something worthwhile at stake?  Yes if its your dream quest.  But does "something worthwhile" extend to lots of good comments, ratings and imaginary internet stars?  Absolutely NO - and I think any rational, reasonable or sane person would see it that way.  That reward is a far, far cry from all the other rewards I mentioned.  And if the reward is not good enough then its not worthy enough for all the resources that have to be sunk into getting it.

Make it like Overworld Metroid where you need to find - Items in order to unlock new areas.

You defeat bosses in dungeons to get these items, Or find them as Treasures in Dungeons.

For me, personally, I like a mix of both, but I'm not big on puzzle-heavy quests. I like my quests to be primarily action focused; strong, fast enemies and lots of them (Oracle of Seasons is my favorite 2D Zelda, even if I do acknowledge that ALttP is probably a better all-around game). But it doesn't really matter what *I* want in a quest, what matters is what *you* want. Make a quest that *you'd* enjoy to play, and if anyone else doesn't like it, screw 'em. If you worry too much about pleasing other people, you'll never finish. Besides, everyone has their own preferred style and you can't please everyone.
