Ok, so today, I decided to download Zelda Classic 2.55. I downloaded it from ZeldaClassic's homepage, on the side where it says "current releases". When I downloaded it, it gave me the .zip file, so I then extracted it. I opened up Zquest, but it didn't update to 2.55. DO I need to put the 2.55 folder into the 2.53 folder? I'm very confused on what to do!

Ideally, you want to start a new folder for any different major version of ZC.

You also want to make a copy of any quests you are working on in an older version before you open it in the new version.

Ok thanks!

Edit: 2.55 is in a different folder, and I copied two of my quests over to 2.53. DO I need to copy the ZLauncher file over to 2.55?

No, 2.55 should come with its own ZLauncher, along with every other file in the program.

They're all meant to be fully-functional stand-alone releases that can go in their own folder without any need to copy anything over from previous versions.

(Though, sometimes I do copy configs between 2.55 alphas or 2.53.1 betas whenever I upgrade that particular version, but I never copy from 2.53 to 2.55 or the other way around.)

Ok, cuz the one I downloaded said it was the alpha. Where can I get the full 2.55 release? Is it on the Zelda Classic website?

That is the full release.

2.53.0 is a final version, 2.53.1 is in beta, and 2.55 is in alpha. If you got an alpha 88 or a beta 55 (or later of each) then you have the latest versions.

Ok. When I downloaded it, though, I did not get a zlauncher. Should I just copy the one from 2.53?

Odd.

Guess it got left out by mistake? It's always been in all the alpha's I've downloaded.

Anyway, you could do that, it should probably function well enough. Probably best to pull it from the latest 2.53.1 beta though. I don't think the alpha/beta zlaunch.exe versions are all that different at this point, if they're even different at all.

One more thing. I have 2.53 launcher, but ZC and Zquest say that my quests are made in "2.50 (33)" What's up with that?

Okay, so internally, 2.53 is really 2.50.3, an extension of 2.50 like 2.50.1 and 2.50.2 were. The issue is that a version called 2.50.3 was released at one point, then found to have crippling bugs that could break quests and so was recalled. Now the new version can't be called 2.50.3 to avoid confusing it with that one, so it's called 2.53. But internally, it's still part of the 2.50.x family.
