Link to the article.  Fan projects that are well received can potentially be endorsed by Nintendo.  This spells great news for fangame creators.  I could easily jump in on this and make that high quality Zelda 1 remake I've always envisioned, and actually have it officially recognized.

While interesting, you should've linked to the source and not the parrot.

This sounds quite interesting. I'm guessing this will result in plenty of pretty neat fangames, which I'm pretty looking forward to seeing.

This is really cool. :)

One thing to note though is that this does sound like it's pretty much referring to Japan.  In fact, the reward program is only through Nico, which is basically the Japanese version of YouTube.  So, sadly, this doesn't necessarily mean that all things will be allowed in other countries.  I think that it would be very likely, but I'd wait until we hear from NoA and other Nintendo divisions before celebrating too much.

Well, I hope Zelda Classic's creators all become Japanese!

Seriously though, I feel POSITIVE that this will follow in America.

This is SUCH great news. Guys, we don't have to worry about Nintendo shooting us any more. Project M may get SPONSERED! What?!!?! This is fantastic and such a great move.

This, I wouldn't try, honestly.  A remake of Brawl's engine utilizing code those devs made theirself would be fine...but showing Nintendo "hey, we hacked your stuff and messed with it~" seems like it'd cause problems.

Yeah, It's obviously dubious but the fact that it has even a chance of happening is mind blowing.

Time to make Waluigi's official game.

But in all seriousness, this is great news.

Zelda Classic on Wii U would be PERFECT.

It'd be better than Mario Maker.  Especially since I used, Reggie, a while back to do the same thing.

...except we need a Niconico Creative Endorsement to do so.

Eh, maybe I didn't read the article closely enough. The point is this appears to only apply to Japan, specifically for "Let's Plays, Game Music Covers, and Fan Art" such as they apply to videos posted to Nicovideo. Zelda Classic, as a game creation program, and PureZC, as a site providing rips of Nintendo's graphics, do not qualify under those criteria right now.

Not to mention only half of what we rip is Nintendo content. :P We are still using midis, tiles and graphics from other games from other companies who would shit on Nintendo if something like Zelda Classic would appear on the Wii U.

I'm sure Square Enix would shit on Nintendo for just about every quest that exists. jk

I don't know if I missed something, but the article you gave doesn't appear to explicitly mention fangames... It seems to indicate that by context, but either way, this is a really good thing.

+10 respect points for Nintendo. All other developers ought to follow suit.
