From a Facebook message to the Zelda Classic Facebook:

“Hello, I would like to play any ZC quest, but I find myself continually dying too often. I know...you’re going to tell me to work on my skills, but I’m 71 years old, and I have a buggy keyboard for ZC on a laptop. I purchased a controller from Amazon and it’s got its own problems. Anyway...I just want to explore and solve problems because this helps me with my old man memory issues. I don’t care about constantly killing things. Can you point me to a cheat on any quest? Or...where in PureZC is the absolutely easiest quest? Thank you.”

Can you guys help this member of our community out? He is registering an account here and I will link him to this thread.

Thank You! The OP is referring to me. So if you want to PM me a code I would appreciate it. My intentions are to build more sword & bomb skills someday.

Or... Point me towards a silly easy qst file.

mmm. some quests have cheat codes, but it usually varies by the quest rather than anything universal. If you mentioned what quests you're playing we could perhaps help you more.

In the newest version of ZC (2.55), the most powerful default cheat is "infirmary". This gives the player access to a large cheat menu, from which you can modify how much health you have, as well as the strength of your sword and armor.

Of course, it isn't guaranteed to work, based on the configuration of the quest file. I believe the code "4" works for older versions, but I'm not sure about that.

The Legend of Zelda: Flow of Time (Remastered) by Obderhode

The Hero of Dreams by Shoelace

Lost Isle by DarkFlameWolfPeteo

Balance of Nature by ywkls

Or really anything you could suggest. Zelda 1st quest?

Thank You

That was weird. I DL'ed and ran 2.55beta.... er... I tried to. When I clicked on the Zelda exe. my laptop ground for a second or two and then the exe file just disappeared. Windows 10, all updates, not a slow poke. Wonder if the virus protection took over?

It probably did. Virus protection tends to flag ZC. You might have to find some way to disable it temporarily.

By the way, I'm not entirely sure "infirmary" always works. It might be unique to quests made in the Vintage Dreams tileset. You could also try the cheatcode, "4".

You should run the game via zlaunch.exe and fiddle with the options in it to get 2.55 running properly. Windows 10 tends to hate fullscreen ZC, for example.

Windows Defender is notorious for doing this. You will need to manually exempt the path where you unzip the ZC files.

There are no built-in cheat codes in the engine. I have no clue what Matthew is talking about, unless some tilesets have them set, and the quest author did not clear them. Your best option is to look into smaller, simpler, and beginner-level quests.

Just created a brand new .qst file to test. Cheat code '4' worked inherently. This implies that, unless the author changed something, you can use that code to manipulate Link data.

Panoply of Calatia is an easy quest difficulty wise; it has a ton of options to make the game easier such as making enemies weaker, making your weapons stronger, etc.

q618s2.png

This is on top of a quest that is easy enemy-wise even with those turned off, as the game gives you many ways to refill your health or stay invulnerable. The main difficulty of the quest comes from puzzle solving with a large arsenal of items.

Even if it still ends up being too difficult for you, it also has default ZC cheat codes, where levels 1-4 of the cheat codes correspond to just typing in the number of the cheat code (if you want level 4 cheats, the most powerful type of cheat, type in "4"!). Level 1 cheats lets you refill your health, rupees, bombs, etc with the press of a button combination (by default, ctrl+shift+the key that corresponds to the cheat; you can see which key it is in the cheat menu).  Level 2 cheats lets you changes your max life, max bombs, max magic, etc, as well as become invincible. Level 3 cheats lets you change any item you currently own, and level 4 cheats lets you walk through walls, turn off overhead stuff, etc.

Thanks All!! I'll get on my skills now.

Honestly I'm normally outside kiteboarding or driving to Mexico, but this virus-avoidance life has me exploring Zelda.

Thank You!!
