This began quite a few weeks ago, and I have some suspicions in regards to old equipment, but ask first act later.

This has been an issue off and on with the internet connection on my desktop PC lately. Pages will take forever to load (sometimes won't load at all), services and messengers will drop, and PC connectivity goes off. However, at that same time, all other devices connected to that same network have no problem at all. So, its not the network (or the router), but something more localized.

My connection point is a Netgear n300 wireless network USB adapter. Until recently I haven't had problems with it, but the devices is nearly four years old, so who knows? I don't want to jump the gun and get a new one if that isn't likely the case.

I had the same network adapter, it did nearly the same thing. I finally said hell with that and got another adapter. (Trust me they good for awhile then they start crapping out).

I went and got me one of these http://www.walmart.c...dapter/17419471 Been rocking that for awhile now and it gives really good speeds.

Also its cheap and high quality can't beat that.

I have the same problem, my internet is connected, the server is online (I check by using a proxy if it says no sever), DNS works. Maybe its some sly moves by the FCC? I use belkin and motorola router in conjunction.

I used to use netgear, I also have Win7 desktop

More details plz.
Dose this happen regardless of what state your computer is when its on? (Opened programs, ext...)
What AV's?
Did you format your PC any time since that issue started to happen?

Anything else u can mention would help as well.

Regardless of programs. No reformatting. MSE, Spybot, scriptsafe for chrome

Replace it, they aren't even expensive. Maybe take it out and use some canned air to clean PCI-E slot, I assume it connects to one of those?

New adapter, though I'm not sure if the situation has improved or not, and the adapter is settling in or something. There were times after setup that it too was still sluggish and pages wouldn't load. Right now things are going just great.. odd

Update: and just went to crap shortly after. Off and on, it gets great then terrible.

Have you had something moved around the room recently that could cause a disturbance with the PC's connection?

No, not that I'm aware of. Nothing has changed.

Uninstall Hamachi if it is installed.

What are the symptoms under safe mode?

I'm halfway tempted to say try turning off one or two startups and services at a time that aren't necessary via msconfig.

as per Bagel I'll uninstall Hamachi and see how that works. Then I might go with your steps, ST

Banking on winsock now, since its looking more like OS corruption... Try to see if it also acts funky wired.
