I'm running Windows 8.1. I have this issue that occurs where midi files for whatever reason won't play in programs like Zelda Classic. Whenever I try to play one in Windows Media Player, it comes up with this message.

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly.

Other audio files work, so I assume this problem is only affecting midis and might have something to do with a midi driver. The strangest part is that this has been an on and off deal where some days it will work and others it won't, and yet restarting my computer does not resolve it.

Any advice would be appreciated.
