You know, maybe the whole "Dungeon" of the "month" concept is a bit overdoing it, but I think between demos and whole quests it would be really nice to have a place to show off small parts of your work for feedback. Not really through a contest, no winners, no timeframe. Not sure, how to do this, but I think there are a few people like me that always do a little bit ZC, but mostly not dedicated enough to make an idea a project right from the start, especially if it is rather playing around to create something interesting without aiming for a whole quest.

I feel the problem with this contest was the lack of demand for anymore contests in general. DotM started roughly during a same period when a few new contest ideas have been pitched and I believe they all became failures in the end. It's not that they were bad ideas, it's just the lack of involvement and interest I see the community having in these things from time to time.

As far as those new wave of contests went though, I liked this one the best, but I feel generally people like showing off their dungeons in the PureZC expos. We're just not living in a time where there is a demand for new contests. We're actually living in a time where we need to put extra effort to keep our already existing contests interesting and engaging which is why I signed up for EotM. I didn't want to see that one die as well. I assume you felt the same.

Yeah, it was a good run, but there really are a ton of contests. I remember 10 years ago when it is ONLY SotW lol. When Map of the Month came along, it was a big deal too.

I dunno, if I ever attempt something like this in the future, it will be structured a bit differently (all entries can be downloaded at once, there will be videos, etc basically it will be like EotM :P). Making the contest easy to digest is a big deal. Having a contest where the voters actually have to "work" so to speak will rule out 90% of the "casual ZC crowd". They can't click in, look at an image, or watch a video and vote, so it might not be worth their time. All in all, I did learn a lot from this. I was wrong about some things, and right about others, but, it was pretty fun, and mostly a rewarding experience.

I've also said this a million times (count' em, one. million!) that one of the biggest shortcoming, imo, was the advertising. This is not a terribly massive community or anything, but things like this in the forums tend to get buried or forgot about if there isn't a post in a few weeks, and then, how will new members, or people who don't already know about it find it? But I digress. Another big part of why I am officially closing this unofficial contest is cause I do want to focus more on EotM, and, my own LPs which is becoming a budding hobby of mine in and of itself. Who knows, you may have someone to help you record entries in the future, NJF!

I know this contest is long dead, but, it was brought to my attention that most of the links in the contest threads were broken.

I went ahead and rounded up all the entries from all four contests, and put them in one .rar file. This link goes to the first post, where you can find this. :)
