hm....Disk read error...Is the disk Dirty or what?

If it is Clean it off with some TP and Rubbing alcohol
That should clean any junk off of it

EDIT: sometime XP disk do that for no reason at all
Just re start the installation if after cleaning the disk does not work

No it is fine. it goes through installation, then windows says it must reboot to continue installation. when it does so, after the reboot, I get:

disk read error
press CTRL ALT DELETE to restart

edit: I'll try reinstallation.

Being a fat 32 will not help in this case at all...:/

Like "Windows 2000" "Windows Me" "windows 98" Disk

Doesnt seem to have but I'll try installation again. Bagel, you got any idea why it would do this?

perhaps I shouldchoose a smaller partition? out of the 320 gigs how big should it be?

This was likely not a head crash. Cana mod change the title to "hard drive failure/replacement issues"? Might be that someone can help with this and not be deterred by a misleading title

the vaio recovery disk creates a partition, but it doesn't look very big... can't edit it.

I guess you could try a Smaller partition
I do not belive a 32bit windows xp can handle a 350 gig
Try setting to 250 gigs And see if that works

it installed... on the recovery disk's 8 gig partition.... hahaha no. I'll try entering 250G for a partition instead.

edit: I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY ENTERED STAGE 2

This is King Aquamentus. I'm coming home. and with more power than ever.

Here's the bad news: I lost Metroid Nova. Don't panic, please. Just someone provide me with a copy of the demo I shipped out, and I think we'll be ok. zc devs, i'll need a password recovered soon.
